Chapter 1

"Y/n sweetie" I hear my mother say as she walks into my room opening the blinds "Time to wake up"

I silently groan as I roll over and bury my head into the pillow due to the sudden light hurting my eyes.

"don't groan at your mother" she snaps "Now come downstairs, your father and I need to have a word with you and your brother"

"it's only 8:30 in the morning," I say "and Jimin is at Taehyungs"

"He didn't tell us that" she exclaims crossing her arms

"He did," I say in the calmest way possible "You and dad just weren't listening, he even texted you that he was"

"Oh well, you'll just have to tell him," she says "now come on, your father is waiting in his office"

"Why can't he just talk to us in the living room or kitchen like a normal parent" I mumble

"What was that dear?" my mother asks

"huh, oh nothing," I say, rolling out of bed and walking to the door "Just talking to myself"

I know what this is about. My parents are going on a business trip, for the third time in the past 2 months. which means I'm going to be home alone most of the time. Jimin is rarely home, only when he needs food and doesn't want to eat out. It's not that I don't like being home alone, it's just that sometimes I wish my brother was there. The two of us used to be close, I told him everything, but once he graduated, he started hanging around a group of guys, and it felt like I lost my brother. I never met his friends, well except for Taehyung, who was practically another brother. Whenever I asked about them he would brush it off and said I don't need to know.

I reached my father's office and knocked on the door.

"Come in," he says. As I enter the dark room, my father looks up from the paper he was reading and gives me a warm smile, well as warm as his smile can get. "sit down sweetheart"

"Can we just skip to the part where you tell me you're going on a trip and skip you apologizing because this is the 2nd time this month alone" I exclaim sitting in the faux leather chair.

Mom doesn't let us have anything that harms animals in the house. She barely brings meat into the house, but since my father and brother both eat a lot of it. She lets it slide. Safe to say she was happy when I told her I was gonna be a vegetarian.

"I know you're tired of us leaving but you know we can't help it," he says drying his pen down and fixing his suit.

"I know," I say as I stand up "When do you leave?"

"in about half an hour," My mother says.

"is that everything?" I ask, wanting to go back to my room.

"Are you in a rush to go somewhere?" My mother asks

"I have a paper due tomorrow that I want to get finished" I lie.

"Okay then, go ahead," my father says.

I exit the office, and walk back to my room, taking my phone out to check for any messages.

1 message from big brother

I opened the message hoping it would be something nice like him asking if I wanted to go for a drive or be an older brother.

Hey, I'm gonna be late coming home today. Can you cover for me with mom and dad?

But as per usual, the same thing. Lying for Jimin has become a daily routine at this point, he goes out with his friends, and I stay home and cover for him.
