Chapter 05

Rachel's POV

I'm now walking towards our house. The house were my sister, cousins and I live. Halos eight years akong hindi nakahinga ng sariwang hangin tuwing gabi. Even though it smells of smoke now, it still makes me feel better.

As I walk, I roll my eyes around. I suddenly stopped walking when I saw a baby inside a car pass by my side. I suddenly remembered Marcus. Yeah. Marcus.

My tears suddenly dripped down my cheeks when I remembered my son.

"Marcus..." I whispered into the air.

I badly missed my son. I could live without George but not my son. Marcus is my life. Sabi nga nila, when you become a Mother. You will be a Mother for the rest of your life. Hindi na mababago 'yun.

"Marcus..." I cried as I mentioned my son's name.

My life is in ruins.

I cursed George.

My life become hectic because of you.

I wish he'd go to the abyss. I feel sorry for my son.

I just cried until I got home. I sat on the sofa but I was still crying. I can't stop crying because of my son. I miss him. So much.

Ate Monica suddenly approached me and touched my shoulder, she's my older sister.

"Tahan na. Ako ng kakausap kayla Mama tungkol dito." Ate Monica suddenly said so I took her hand and hugged it.

Marcus. Mommy apologizes to you, baby.

One night passed and I was at work again. I'll just pour all my time into being a doctor so I don't get depressed. I know I can do it. Marcus is not by my side, but he's in my heart.

While I was reading the CT-Scan of one of my patients, Nrs. Tracy suddenly cried out because an emergency patient was coming.

"Doc, there's an been TA. There will be a 3 patients in 4 minutes." Nrs. Tracy quickly said to me so I stopped what I was doing.

"Please page Doctor Moira Gomez." I quickly command to her.

"Okay, Doc." Nrs. Tracy answered and immediately called Moira.

"Please bring them inside. This way." I quickly said to the person who brought them here and helped them push the wheeled stretcher into the ER.

"I can hardly feel his pulse. We have to check for popliteal artery dissection. Run him though low extremity angiography." I quickly said to the patient with leg injured and to the nurses surrounding him.

"Yes, Doc." The nurse said quickly to me so I nodded.

"Doctor Suarez, I need you here." Moira suddenly called my name so I immediately approached her but before I approached her, I talked to a nurse first to call Dr. Ramos.

"Please page Doctor Frank Ramos of Department of Cardiovascular Surgery." I ordered Nrs. Krist for Dr. Ramos to treat a other patient who have difficulty breathing and I immediately looked at Moira's patient.

"The circulation is fine but I think the median nerve got compressed. Splint his arm up and get a wrist series of forearm anterior-posterior view lateral. Get reduction done as soon as posible." I quickly said so they just nodded and followed what I said.

I turned to a nurse and guardian talking at the nurse station, the guardian looked angry so I approached them.

"Ipapa-transfer ko yung anak ko sa mas disenteng ospital. Sa isang ospital na may mas mahusay na doktor hindi dito na nagkakagulo." I heard the guardian complain to Nrs. Tracy.

"Ma'am, hindi nga po pwede." Nrs. Tracy's weary answers to her.

"Hindi ko hahayaan ma-confine yung anak ko sa magulang ospital na 'to. Ililipat ko siya sa ayaw at sa gusto niyo." The guardian sarcastically said to Nrs. Tracy so I suddenly spoke.

"Excuse me. The patient can't leave the hospital without their doctor's permission." I seriously said to the patient's guardian.

"Who's the patient she's referring to?" I asked Nrs. Tracy.

"The patient in bed number five." Nrs. Tracy answered so I immediately looked at the patient in bed number five. She's my patient and her condition is not stable now.

"The patient's condition is not yet stable so it will be more difficult for her if she has to travel to the decent hospital you say. Just let this hospital treat your daughter. Excuse me." I seriously said and went out from her presence.
