Chapter 3: The Boy

Since it was night time the monsters were out. Kat took out her sword and so did Sara and Git. Kat was in trouble because her sword broke. A zombie was about to hit her. She was scrambling around on the floor to find a weapon. The zombie was about to hit her! Sara and Git couldn't reach her fast enough. Suddenly, a boy came up behind her and helped fight off the zombie with an enchanted steel sword. The zombie collapsed in a puff of white dust. It was dead. Unfortunately Kat was a lone wolf, so Sara and Git turned away, giggling because they'd seen this move before. But to them, it seemed genuine this time. She ran to the boy, and kissed him on the cheek. Her eyes twinkled momentarily.
"See ya!" Kat said, snapping out of her enchantment, while play-punching the boy in the arm for helping her. Then she ran to their temporary dirt hut, blushing. She kind of liked him.
"Today I met a boy. He saved my life. He had brown, shaggy hair and a full set of steel armor. He was so kind. I wonder who he was..."
Wrote Kat in her journal that night.
"What if the boy was a spy for the king? Do you think he notices we're gone yet?" Sara muttered, eating mutton, rice, and seaweed chips.

"THAT WAS MAH FIRST KISS!!!!!!!!!!" Kat went on.

Sara just rolled her eyes. "He could be dangerous" she sighed like it was common knowledge

They heard the mini doorbell on their dirt hut ring. Kat proceeded to open the door to see who was there. It was the boy who saved her.
"AHHHHHHHH!" Kat screamed.
There was an army of skeletons behind him. Git and Sara pulled out their swords. Kat reached for her bow and shot two of them down.
"Wait stop it's ok." said the boy, "These are my friends, they won't hurt you."
Sara hugged Git's arm and pulled them both to the back of the hut. The boy sighed.
"It's fine I don't bite" he said " by the way, I'm Rich" he extended an arm for a hand shake. Kat shook his hand with a skeptical look. The boy seemed slightly familiar, but Kat brushed it off.
"Come in," she said, "without the skelly bobs."
Rich told them he was also running away from Malooma. The king was trying to kill his family because they couldn't pay their debt to him.
"So where are you parents?" asked Git
"Dead," said Rich sadly. "The king got them. I ran away before I was executed. Who are you by the way?"
They looked at each other.
"I'm Jazz," said Sara
"I'm Katniss, but I'm Kat to my friends, you aren't there yet." Kat added with a devious smile.
"I'm Gideon, call me Git" said Git.

"Welp, I guess it's time to go" Sara sighed, "Get your stuff,"

Kat grabbed her bow and arrows and looked everywhere for another netherite sword. "Do you want my brand new diamond sword?" asked Rich.
Git gave Rich a look because Kat was like his younger sister.
"Come on hurry, the suns rising!" Git exclaimed, still giving Rich a look.
Rich handed Kat the sword and ran up ahead with Sara. Sara also gave him a look.
They silently left the hut with their weapons and bundles of food and supplies.

Rich swiftly ran up behind Kat. Kat gave the others a look of confusion but it was not as bad as the look she gave Rich. "Stick with me," said Kat reluctantly and sternly.
