Warnings: Vulgar & Smutty Language, Heavy Drug Use
Despite the fact that Jenny had explicitly told herself not to get her hopes up, she was still heartbreakingly disappointed to see Halston walk into the Whisky with Nikki that night.
But she was even more disappointed to see the genuine smile plastered over Halston's face when Nikki casually draped his arm around her shoulder as they walked up to the bar.
Jenny was wholly confused by Halston letting him touch her so casually- unwarranted grabs normally pulled the pin out of the grenade that lived inside Halston's skull.
She smiled to herself for the perfect analogy she just thought of to signify Halston's temper, but it quickly disintegrated when she saw the blood crusted to the back of Halston's neck.
"Woah. What happened?!" Jenny worriedly interrogated, her voice coming out a little louder than she meant it to. "Why are you bleeding?!"
Nikki's arm slithered away from Halston's back in an act of guilt- he should've helped her clean herself up before they left his apartment.
But, in his defense, as soon as the plan to retrieve cocaine was mentioned, both of their minds couldn't focus on much else.
"What?" Halston furrowed her brows, her face falling in realization as she reached for the back of her neck. "Oh. I fell into the coffee table at Nikki's. I'm okay, though. It's just a little scratch."
"A little scratch?" Jenny argued, slowly reaching out her hand to turn Halston's head so she could inspect the damage. "That's not little at all! And you're covered in blood!"
"Calm down, Jen. It's not a big deal." Halston scoffed, pulling away from Jenny's grip. "Besides, it makes me look more badass, doesn't it?"
Jenny's eyes widened in disapproval at how flippant Halston was being about getting hurt. Although, Jenny shouldn't have been surprised because it was how Halston always was.
She could probably get hit by an eighteen wheeler and stand back up like nothing had happened.
"No. It makes you look deranged." Jenny corrected.
"Yeah, well, that too." Halston shrugged, pointing to the bottle of Jack Daniels on the cabinet behind Jenny.
"You shouldn't be drinking if you took a hit to the head, Hall." Jenny shook her head. "You could have a concussion or something."
Nikki was growing aggravated with Jenny's lecture, and by the looks of it, so was Halston.
Halston loved her best friend more than anyone on the planet, but she was getting sicker and sicker of Jenny's smothering tendency to overreact.
Halston knew that Jenny was only looking out for her, but it was starting to come across as bossy instead of caring.
And Halston felt an overwhelming need to prove that she was still the wildflower that did whatever she wanted, whenever she wanted to do it now that she had broken several of her cardinal rules.
She had to prove it to herself more than anyone else.
"Get me a fucking drink, Jenny."
