Warnings: Language, Heavy Drug Use, Heavy Smut

It didn't take long for Halston to see that the high of cocaine was wildly different than that of the two Oxys she had hastily swallowed without any prior knowledge of how they would affect her body.

While cocaine lifted her up and exacerbated her gnawing, pent-up energy; the sweet opiate sunk her low, into a mind-numbing tranquility she'd never experienced before.

It started with a deep warmth that spread through her ribcage and flowed through every extremity, as if it was gently swaddling her in a tight hug that made all of her worries seem thousands of miles away.

It continued with her skin conveying the allusion of being wrapped in the smoothest, softest silk- and the more she moved, the more she could feel it pleasurably rub against her nerves.

It stalled for a moment with the anger and resentment that normally sat right atop her chest dissipating, allowing her the ability to inhale a deep breath and actually feel the air fill her sore lungs.

It had been so long since she'd really been able to breathe that she'd completely forgotten how intoxicating the simple necessity of Oxygen could be when it encapsulated the brain.

She was stuck in that moment of unbridled euphoria you got when you came to the head of an orgasm, but frozen in time to last for hours.

And she was just so damn comfortable.

Which was something Halston wasn't used to being.

She'd been searching for comfort her whole life and it had always been just beyond her reach, mere inches away from her fingertips.

There were places it loomed closer, like her and Jenny's apartment (truthfully, anywhere with her best friend) but she'd never felt it so all-encompassing like the way it was in the wake of those little blue pills.

But once she met the final act of the high, the gaping black hole the opiate opened inside of her mind that ruthlessly devoured all of her painful thoughts and memories, nothing was ever the same.

Everything changed.

And the fact that she could reach this overwhelming nirvana whenever she wanted if she worked at the Seventh Veil easily made the decision to switch jobs for her.

She wasn't going to give Nick the satisfaction of telling him that yet, however. She wanted to leave him swinging in desperation for a little while longer.

By the time Halston made it back to the table she had blissfully climbed to cloud nine, an innocently beautiful smile etched into her tan skin.

She was so wondrously happy, so content to be living in her own skin, that it made her question if she'd ever really felt true happiness before.

Nothing could pull her down from her high, not even the sour look encrusted onto Nikki's face.

While she was teetering along the cuff of pure ecstasy, he was going insane with aggravation.

He hadn't even wanted to come to the Seventh Veil in the first place. He only came to satiate some wild-haired desire in Halston, and how was he rewarded for his kindness?

By getting left alone with the guys he hadn't wanted to hang out with so she could dive her head in between the first random pair of thighs she came across.

And while that image aroused him greatly, he wanted to be the one doing the diving.

He, at the very least, deserved to watch.
