Slap Slap Slap!
The sound of skin hitting the concrete resonates throughout the warehouse. A body rushes past the many walls in the corridor. It pivots left and right as if trying to escape the labyrinth it's been trapped in for who knows how long.
The black haired male looks around for another hallway that he hopes leads to freedom. A dark chuckle echoes off of the walls sending deep chills through his spine. He can't think straight the adrenaline and tears blur his vision. The only thing he knows is that he needs to hide. Now.
The fearful boy dives into a juncture between two walls. He scoots back as much as he can so that his entire back is flushed to the concrete. Tears slip past his eyes as he brings his knees to his chest. He glances up at the ceiling and slaps a hand over his mouth to muffle his pitiful sobs.
The amber glow from the light fixtures casts an eerie glimmer on the ground. Pipes jut out of the walls on one side, giving the area an even more horrifying look. The smell of mildew and mold reaches to the boy's nose making him gag. He presses his hand even closer to his mouth, but covering his nose in the process.
His labored breathing is the only sound in the dreary corridor. Without making too much movement, he shifts slightly to peak out at the empty hall. His messy tufts of hair stick out in every direction, unkempt.
The only thing he sees is emptiness. The lights on the ceiling start to flicker as if holding on to as much life as possible.
Once the boy is positive no one is there, he pushes himself out of the juncture and dashes down the hallway. He keeps turning into hallway after hallway. He knows he's lost, but he keeps going. The only thing on his mind is freedom.
His heartbeat accelerates tremendously within his chest. He can't feel his legs, they feel like jelly. He wants to stop so bad. To just stop and drop to the ground so he can let sleep take him. He hopes that when he wakes up this nightmare will end. But no, he can't stop now, he's so close.
He turns down another long corridor and finally stops to rest. He places his left hand on the solid wall. His head is casted down while his right hand lays on his knee. He takes deep inhales trying to regain his breath.
A faint light blinks on and off in front of him. As if trying to signal him a message. The boy lifts his head to find out the cause of light. As his teary eyes create a blur in his vision he hastily wipes them away.
Once his vision refocuses he reads the red sign displayed above a door.
EXIT, it reads in bold.
A silent sob rips out of the boy. He stares at the sign with complete joy. He has never felt so happy in his life. He felt all the walls disappear leaving only him and the door to his freedom. A huge smile overtakes his beautiful features.
It's a miracle. He thinks joyously.
Without wasting anymore time he throws himself towards the door. His freedom right there, waiting to be claimed.
It's so close.
Badum Badum, his parents will welcome him with open arms and kisses.
Badum Badum, his friends will cheer and they'll celebrate.
Badum Badum, he'll see his teachers again.
Badum Badum, everything will go back to normal.
BADUM BADUM, everything except-
"Aaah!" The boys stomach lurches as he feels himself slowly fall to the ground. He lands with a thud. His legs suddenly become immobile and he can't seem to move them much. He feels a presence behind him coming closer. He pushes his body with his hands to turn around.
The black haired boy looks up as he hears a deep giggle. A shadow is cast over his quivering frame as he tries hard to identify his pursuer.
With a tiny whimper he scuttles back.
"P-please leave me a-alone!" The boy yells fearfully as sobs rack his body. The shadow steps forward towards the boy. "N-no I s-said lea-ve me al-lone!" The boy continues to move backwards as his hands are held in front of him in a weak attempt to say stay back.
The shadow gives such a terrifying grin that it halts the boy momentarily out of fear.
"S-stay b-back! Stay b-back!" The boy repeatedly yells like a mantra. In a last attempt for freedom the boy jumps up and makes a run for it.
He didn't get far, for the shadow had already predicted this. The shadow wraps its strong and veiny arms around the struggling boy, lifting him off the ground.
A hand goes around his small waist tightly, knocking the air out of his lungs. The other hand around his mouth to silence his continuous screams and cries for help. He writhes and fights trying to beat the person or thing, behind him. But to no avail.
The boy tries one more weak hit to his attackers forearm, then stills completely. He goes limp in the shadows arms, defeated.
His quiet whimpers and sniffles can still be heard along the walls. The shadow slightly leans forward, and presses its lips to the shell of the boys ear.
"Hmm. Oh poor baby. You thought you could run? How cute." The deep baritone voice whispers in his ear. It chuckles.
Slowly the boy and the shadow sit on the ground against the wall without pipes. The shadows hand slips from the boys mouth down to his neck, locking him in place. The boy breathes shallowly trying to control his endless sobs. This is it. He can't escape.
The shadow again speaks, "Thought you could escape? Thought I'd let you leave me? Hmm? Well, let me tell you this," The shadows breath ghosts over his cheek as he stares ahead, "You. Can't. Escape. Me.
