Is He Always Like This?

Lunch time was spent on the rooftop the next day. Your classmates had asked Reki about what happened to his arm. It basically meant that you had to keep your cool in terms of what you recently witnessed happen to him. In turn, you blocked the sight of Reki bleeding from his head while Adam loomed behind you from your memory. So far, this was a good thing. You were much less anxious for what was going to happen to Langa now that he was next.

"What was that earlier?" Langa asked Reki.

The other boy flinched, "What was what?"

"Well, you literally screamed 'Langa!' in the middle of class."

"That was just a daydream. People have those."

"It sounded more like a daymare," you said.

"Well, it wasn't," Reki took his water bottle. It only took him a moment for him to realize that he couldn't exactly open the lid with one hand. He tried to unscrew the lid with a couple of his fingers. He ended up dropping it before it could get loose. You were the first to grab it, unscrewing the lid and handing it to him. At first, you wanted to keep holding onto it. But, that would probably end up in Reki almost choking. You remembered what happened last time.

"Y'know," Reki said after taking a sip.

"No," Langa said.

"It's about the beef isn't it?" you asked.

"I didn't say anything, how?" Reki said.

"It's all over your face."

"But you two saw it right? He's insane!"

"Yeah, but that didn't stop you," Langa said. "Even after Joe warned you."

If Reki was a stubborn person to convince not to do things, Langa was even worse. There was that deep longing to skate that you couldn't tamper with at all. No, you were not too keen on Langa being the next in Adam's list of victims, and tried to purge it from your mind. Yet, you couldn't do anything in terms of words to prevent it.

"I didn't think he was on that level of insane," Reki said. "But it was just like what Joe said. You're better off not skating against Adam."

"N-O-W-A-Y," Langa drawled those words out.

You were sure that Reki hit his head a little too hard when he protested. Or maybe he grew a few braincells and saw what you had known the entire time. That Adam was a bad person, and should be avoided at all costs. Someone who talks to a child like they're their lover needs to go to jail, as well as therapy.

"I'm going to skate against Adam," Langa said.

Things weren't good now. Adam was still in your life, and he was going to hurt more people you cared about.

...

The day continued on and now you were at Dope Sketch with Reki. He wanted to get there early, and decided to drag you there with him. You weren't sure why, since you didn't even work there. But, you didn't exactly mind. You were just glad that Reki was being logical for once.

"You have to say something Manager Oka," Reki's head was on the table as he begged. "He won't listen to a thing I say."

"Look who's talking here," Oka said.

"That's not the point."

"Well, you did skate against Adam anyways," you commented.

"Stuff about me doesn't matter," Reki said. "I just absolutely don't want Langa skating against Adam."
