He sighed as he let the curtain of his room window down. He opened the door to the small corridor outside of the room, to clear his head and receive some fresh air. He had just finished helping his mother and the other men that were hired to sort out their furniture in their new home. It was still sort of unreal to him. Everything happened so fast.

It was especially hard for him; being the first boy and his late father's heir. He had to be the man Papa had raised, and he knew that his family needed him most in these hard times. He loved his mother. He was her boy; he always was. He never failed her, and was always there for her. He was there the night she was informed of the dreadful news of her husband's death and he was happy he was.

He didn't have time to deal with his own grief, but deep down, he mourned badly. His father was his support and he was always proud of him. He taught him to be strong. To be a man. He taught him to be there for his loved ones. He couldn't imagine how they were holding up.

He wiped the beads of sweat that started to form on his forehead and unbuttoned the first two buttons on his shirt. He could hear honks from the distance. He knew the street was busy. He was happy that their new house was in a more quiet street; noise would not be good for them now.

He was lost in thought, savouring the slight breeze when his phone buzzed in his pocket. He got it out and peered at the screen. It was Aunty Inaya. The text she sent read: 'We miss you guys already. Tell the others I love them too; tell them the girls and their uncle say hi. Will call later. Take care of yourselves and get some rest'. He smiled to himself as he typed her back.

'We miss you guys too. Will do :)'

"Who wants dinner?" Mama echoed as she strolled down the stair case. She was lately trying to get the children to eat. They hadn't really been eating well since Papa.

"I'm not hungry" Josh replied, concentrating on what he was sketching.

"Me too" Emily added.

A frown formed on Mama's face. "I need you guys to eat. I'm not comfortable with you going a whole 24 hours without eating" she complained to them. By this time, Josh had dropped what he was doing.

"Mum. We ate on the plane" he reminded her of the snacks they were served on the airplane a few hours ago.

"That wasn't food, Josh. Besides, that was hours back. This is now" she sighed. She was getting frustrated with arguing with them every time she asked them to eat.

"I'll eat, Mum. And I think it's best if you guys do too" Anne announced, walking down the stair case. She had changed into her pajamas and had a book in her hand.

Mama smiled and hugged Anne. "Thank you" she whispered into her hair and walked into the kitchen.

"One day, you guys are going to make her feel bad. She'll think you just don't want to eat her food. Besides, how aren't you hungry? I'm starving; especially when it's Mama's food in the oven. It smells damn good" Anne told her younger ones and crossed her legs on the chair that Josh was on, continuing with the novel she was reading.

"I think we should go help set the table, Anne" Emily turned and faced her sister. Anne smiled lightly and nodded. "You're right"

They got up to help their mother in the kitchen. Soon enough, the table was set for five.

"Josh, come here" Anne echoed as she sat down opposite her mother, beside Emily. Josh dropped his pencil on the sketch his was working on and walked over to the table, pulling out a chair for himself.

"I should go get David" Emily volunteered. But Mama stopped her from getting up from her seat and told her that she would call him on the phone instead. That way, no one would have to get up.

After some time, David had joined the others at the table and everybody was busy with their plate in silence when Mama spoke.

"What do you guys think of the house?"

Emily smiled lightly and raised her head. "It's really cute, Mama. The change of environment isn't that bad" Mama returned her sweet daughter's smile and turned to the others.

"I like it. Not too big, not too small. It's perfect" Josh rated.

Anne nodded in agreement as she looked around and admired the new walls that she would be living in for as long as God wanted them to.

None of them had really taken time to go on a tour to examine the house. Everybody has been busy. But now that she looked around, she noticed that it wasn't that bad, and she realized that there was really nothing to worry about, but she knew that she wouldn't have this feeling for long.
