She slammed the door behind her angrily. As her intestines churned, she didn't think she could get over this day. She wanted nothing more than to curl herself up in her bed and sob. She didn't talk to anyone after school, and rushed up to her room immediately; which made her mother walk in after her.

"Anne?" She spoke

"Yeah?" Anne replied, almost inaudible.

"Are you okay?" Mama asked Anne, standing by the door.

The lights were turned off, and so she could only see her mother's shadow figure on the wall.

"Yes" she sniffed.

"Are you sure?, Mama softly asked, "Don't you want to watch some TV?"

She didn't say anything.

"Anne?"

"I'm fine Mama!" She exclaimed. She had lost her temper. She just didn't want to talk to anyone at that time.

Mama nodded, she understood that Anne must have had a bad day.

"Okay sweety, I'm sorry"

Anne sighed, now feeling bad for screaming at her. She knew she wanted nothing but for her to be okay, and it was not her fault that Anne had a bad day.

"No, I'm sorry Mama" still hiding her face in her pillow, she mumbled.

Mama smiled.

"It's okay, I understand. I love you. Get some sleep, okay?"

"Thanks"

She heard the door shut quietly, followed by Mama's faint footsteps down the staircase. As they got further away, she could feel her eyes close slowly until she was asleep.

The next morning, she changed out of the clothes she fell asleep in and got ready for another day. After wearing cleaner clothes, she stared at herself in the mirror and sighed. She hated her daily schedule. Early mornings, which she totally despised. Then school; fake friends and tired teachers. And then hours of boredom back home. It was also exhausting to keep up with homework and other chores. Weekends weren't any different. Saturday was movie night; dad was always absent and everyone always fell asleep. Sunday was church, and mostly sleep. In her defense, her life was boring.

But, what could she do? She always tried to remind herself that it was only some time before she finally graduated and had a life of her own.

Mr and Mrs.McNulty are Anne's parents. They own a big house in England. Although, none of them were born in England, her family relocated from Nigeria many years ago.

Mr McNulty owns a water factory. He is a very wealthy man who leaves home way too early and comes home way too late. He is a busy man. However, still manages to find time to spent time with his family.

Anne's mother on the other hand, is a banker. She is financially stable as well. Although not as stressed as her husband, she spends most of her time cooking and cleaning, when she's not working.

Anne has three siblings. David, who is 19 years old is the oldest. Josh who is 13 years old is the next after her. Josh is an adopted child. After Anne was born, her parents chose to adopt him, and he is happy where he is. Emily who is 10 years old is the youngest. Anne is 14.

"Where is Josh?" Papa asked David when everyone was seated at the table.

"I don't know, dad"

Papa creased his forehead in confusion.

"What do you mean you don't know? You share the same room" Papa looked up, taking a sip of his orange juice.

"Yes but I left him in the shower. He spends the whole day in there" David teased, rolling his eyes.
