Throughout the rest of the week, Christian and I called each other every night. I was able to get to know him, and the more I did, the less worried I was. He didn't seem like the kind of person Cherry told me he was at all. That ounce of fear of him still being like that was being pushed to the very back of my mind. We had even gone to the drive-in Thursday night. I had decided it was best to keep quiet about our relationship. Although I had only been thinking of him those past couple of days, when Friday came I couldn't help but wonder what would happen when I went to Cherry's house.

When the bell for school finally rang, I calmly made my way to the parking lot, making sure to give Cherry time to get there first. My plan worked out as I saw her loading her backpack into her car, her really nice car. I guess I kept staring because she ended up noticing.

"Like what you see?" Cherry asked

"You or the car?" I ask, winking at her. She scoffed lightly and playfully rolled her eyes, a familiar pink tint painting her cheeks.

"What kind of car is this anyway?" I asked as we got in.

"Uhh, some kind of corvette. I'm not really great with cars," she discloses.

"Don't worry about it, neither am I. Soda and Steve tried to teach me some stuff but I didn't really pick any of it up," you assured.

"Oh yeah, I forgot you hang out with Dally and his outfit."

"Yeah, they're great people and all but I guess sometimes I wish I had my own friends, ya know? Dally's fantastic reputation really fucked up the chances of that, though."

"You have me," Cherry smiled, looking over to me.

I swear I felt my heart rise into my throat and I could've sworn I was about to pass out right then and there. I smiled back.

"You and him are nothing alike," Cherry began, "I don't understand why everyone thinks you're gonna behave just like him."

"I don't either. It's like everyone in this whole goddamn town has had some sort of shitty interaction with him."

"Sounds about right," Cherry laughed causing me to snort.

"At least no one messes with me," I added optimistically.

"Yeah, I guess you're right."

From then on we let the music playing on the radio and the sounds of the city fill the air. As soon as we pulled into her driveway, my eyes almost popped out of my sockets. To say I was in awe was a total understatement. I had never even been near a house this big before.

"Are your parents home?" I asked.

"Nope, they're away on business," she says, pulling out her house keys, "that doesn't bother you, right?"

"No, not at all," I answer quickly. As much as I didn't want to be some little secret, I had seen how the rich treated the lower class.

I walked into her house and she began her tour. Her house was gorgeous, to say the least. I arrived at her bedroom and put my bag down. We had agreed to do our homework first. Once that was out of the way, we began to talk about anything and everything.

"It's so hot in here," Cherry commented, fanning herself. I muttered in agreement.

"Oh, I have an idea!" Cherry yelled.

"What? What is it?" I asked eagerly.

"Let's go swimming!" Cherry shouted

I was stumped, it was now raining, hard.
