I go upstairs to the room that I woke up in, and notice a balcony.

I opened my mouth out of sheer shock that I hadn't noticed it this morning.

I grabbed a pair of smokes from off of the night stand, I didn't care who it was; I just needed to let off some stress.

Luckily there was a red lighter sitting next to it, I picked it up and opened the pack to see 4 or 5 cigarettes inside.

I lit one of the smokes I pulled out and took a big inhale, feeling the hot tobacco hit the back of my throat and sting.

I step out onto the balcony, taking in the lights from the tall buildings in the distance of the city.

"How did it go?" Blaine asks behind me, making me jump out of my skin. I don't turn around to meet him, I kinda just don't want to look at anyone right now.

"As usual, nothing changed. He's still a dick, and wont give me answers to anything I ask him." I scratch my forehead.

"Give him some time, he really needs it." Blaine walks up beside me, resting his elbows on the railing.

I turn to look at him. "He seemed really mad though, do you know why?"

He scoffs and chuckles. "Mee? Why would I know?" His voice gets higher after every word he says. I relaxed my face at him.

He stares at me, dumbfounded.

"You're a very bad liar Blaine." I say coarsely.

He nods disappointedly. "I know."

I hold out my pinky. "Please Blaine, I won't tell him you told me. I'll keep it a secret."

He takes my pinky and squeezes it. "He was blackmailed." I freeze. "What? Why? What was it about? Did he hurt you?" I ask, jumbling my words.

"Someone saw us walking in San Jose today and they threatened to kidnap you." he drops his head, taking our eyes off each other. He's ashamed.

"Are you kidding?" I ask, distraught by what he said. "I wish I was kidding." I felt a sharp sting in the back of my throat and in my nose, my lips started to quiver.

Everything in the bottom of my eye became blurry as tears flooded my eyes. Blaine looks up at me, he gets this worried look on his face and brings me in.

I open my arms to embrace him. "Hey, hey. Shh, it's okay. I'm here." He says in a soothing voice as I softly cry into his cotton shirt.

"I don't want to get kidnapped... again. I never wanted this." I say, sobbing.

"Mal, I'll be here to protect you. I know all of this is sudden."

"Do you promise?" I ask, mascara rolling down my cheeks.

"Of course Mal. I would never say that if it wasn't true." he rubs my back.

"Thank you Blaine." I sniffle my snot up, and let go of him. Smiling.

I knock on Mikas front door, waiting for her to answer. I hear the locks on the door rustle back and forth and the door swing open.

"Oh hey Kade!" She says, with a big smile on her face. "Hey!" I say with the same energy back.

"How was Mal?" she asks, letting me inside of her penthouse. "She was with some other dude." I scratch the back of my neck.

"She never told me she was seeing someone?"

"He paid for our meals at this restaurant he owns, I can't really talk shit about him. He seems like a really nice guy."
