deena saw the sun from her window blinding her as she woke up, next to sam. deena looks down and smiles at the sleeping cheerleader, trying not to move so she didn't wake her up. her lips were perfect, deena couldn't  stop staring at them. she wasn't exactly sure how someone could look so perfect while sleeping.

deena quickly realizes her thoughts and shook her head slightly, ridding her brain of them.

sam tussles around on deena's arm, eventually opening her eyes.

"good morning, is my arm comfortable?" deena teases with a smile.

"oh shit, i didn't realize i was on it. i'm sorry." sam leans up, letting her move her arm.

"no, sam it's okay."

sam was in strange trance by deena, she felt comfort around her. super bizarre, considering they weren't even friends a few days ago. the feeling deena gave her left her longing for something, not even realizing what it was. sam's eyes lead her to the brunette's lips, without her brain even registering she was looking there.

"school, we have to go to school." sam interrupts her gaze on deena's lips with a random outburst.

"right, school. i'll get you those change of clothes now. hungry for breakfast?"

"yeah, thanks for letting me stay last night." sam lifts herself out of deena's bed.

"anytime, samantha." deena smiles and winks.

deena leaves the clothes with sam, giving her privacy. she goes on to the kitchen, she was going to cook sam pancakes.

sam finishes putting deena's clothes on and notices more polaroids hanging on the wall. it was deena and a red haired girl, our age. sam looks at the photo below to see them kissing.

bitterness.

thats what sam felt in that moment, she was unaware why. she's probably not gay, never thought about it. plus, that would ruin her. she had to be the straight, popular, blonde cheerleader. that's what everyone expects.

sam steps out of the room to witness a terrible smell, she pinpoints the smell and watches in the kitchen as deena flips a black disc off the pan.

she turned around to see her standing there, "oh sam, hi. i made you something."

deena hands the plate to sam. sam looks down at the plate, "yeah deena, i can't eat this.. sorry."

deena looks at her with a confused expression painted on her face, "are you kidding me? i made this with ingredients and shit."

"deena, it's burnt." sam looks at her fringing her lips into a frown.

"okay okay. let's go, i'll pick you something up on the road." deena grabs her keys from the hook and loads into the car with sam.

simon, kate, and deena were casually chatting at lunch, talking about the weekend and their plans.

kate takes a sip of her juice and continues, "we should go to the rager at eve ranger's tonight." kate immediately looks at deena, waiting for her reaction.

"i don't know, kate. eve and i haven't talked since we broke up, it's just not the best idea." deena realizes as she moves her tray around.

"come onnn, it's going to be so much fun, maybe that blonde girl with be there." kate adds.

"why would i care if sam's there or not?" she straightens her expression.

"deena, we all see the way you look at her. i've known you for so long, you literally cant hide this from me."

"listen, i let her sleep over like once." deena whined.

"wait, she slept over?" kate gets suspicious, "did you guys like.."

"what no, no, no. it's not like that. she's straight, okay?"

"you still never denied you have feelings for her," kate flashes a wicked smile.

"you guys are weird," deena then sees sam, sam makes eye contact with deena. deena waves to no response.

that made deena think
"why the hell wouldn't she at least wave back?"
"did i do something to piss her off?"

the end of the hellish school day rolled around the hallways were filled with couples sharing kisses and holding hands, being so happy.

too happy.

deena hates it, seeing everyone have someone.

sam is standing at her locker putting her things away.

"better time as any," deena mumbles as she approaches sam.

"oh, deena. hi." sam notices her presence by her locker.

"why didn't you say anything to me at lunch today?" deena lowers her eyebrows, clearly ticked off, "i waved at you and you didn't even wave back."

sam huffs, "it's nothing against you personally, you're great. it's just that a girl like me doesn't usually hang out with a girl like you." sam looks down, "i hope you understand that,"

sam really knew the real reason she didn't say 'hi' and didn't want to interact with deena. maybe she did like deena, maybe it wasn't just a random thought that meant nothing. she couldn't like a girl, that would ruin everything for her. she just wanted to stay here, for once just settle. not having to be worried about being uprooted from a stable area.

deena gives an angry glare, "so what? you're like embarrassed to be my friend, or to be seen with me, or some stupid shit!" deena rolls her eyes, "i really thought, maybe you changed sam fraser. i think i was just lying to myself."

sam begins to feel a knot in her gut, "deena, please." sam reaches out and grabs her arm.

deena instantly pulls away, making sam flinch. "sam, please just leave me the hell alone." she walks away tightly gripping her backpack.

kate sits on deena's couch packaging drugs, while simon helps.

kate looks over to deena. she was visibly mad, she knew by the way she was sitting. something was pissing her off.

"so, dee.. give any thought to the blonde?" kate asks, hoping that sam wasn't the reason she was so angry.

"can we just shut the hell up about sam? she's the worst." deena snaps back to kate.

"i'm sorry, kate. i just really don't want to talk about sam." deena fixes her tone.

"understandable dee, listen how about we stop thinking about sam, too?" kate raises her eyebrows at the gesture, "we can still go that party at eve's."

"ooh yes! kate's idea, who the hell wants to sit around thinking about sam farter?" simon reasons.

"fraser, simon." deena throws him a look.

"still, let's go party. i promise not to get super wasted again." simon still trying to convince deena.

"fuck it, let's go to this damn party." deena grunts while getting up from a chair.
