"Guys, get ready! The School Bus will be here in 10 minutes!" Marshall yelled. The others rushed to get ready and eventually came out to the driveway, where they waited for the bus to come.
.
After what seemed like forever, Chase finally regained consciousness again. He tried to look around, but couldn't do much. The wound was still rather fresh, and the pain was still there. But luckily for him, he had someone to talk to.
"Finally awake huh."
He looked beside him and saw a young girl sitting next to him.
"Oh. Uh, hi. Who are you?" He asked
"I'll introduce myself later. Firstly, are you feeling well now?"
"Kind of, yeah."
"Great! I'll just go and call the doctor. Be back in a sec." She said as she got up and left the room. Chase stared out the window, drifting into his thoughts again.
Again, the question of safety was a rather important one. And after what had happened, he wasn't as confident in roaming around outside as before.
An image was portrayed in his mind. An image that he wanted to forget for a long time. The flashing lights,
"I'm back!"
The wailing sirens,
"Chase?"
The blood,
"Chase!"
"GAH!" He yelled, slightly startled by the sudden interruption to his rather grim recollection.
"You zoned out for a bit."
"Oh, I was just thinking about some stuff. Anyways, can I go home now?"
"Sure you can." The doctor said, entering the room with some papers.
"Oh hey, Thanks uh, what should I call you?"
"You can call me Rick. Add the Astley if you want."
"Oh. Thanks, Rick Astley sir." Chase smiled.
"I'd better drop you home. You're all right, you'll just have some trouble moving that arm of yours, so you should probably not force yourself to do anything too energy-intensive. I'll give you a shoulder brace, just in case you need it. You wanna come, Everest?" Rick asked, to which she nodded.
"Everest. Now, where have I heard that name before?" He thought to himself.
Chase was able to walk, but he needed a bit of help, so Everest helped get him outside and into the ambulance, and onto the bed in the back. Weirdly, he felt rather safe about going back into the cruel and unforgiving world again, mostly because he had confidence in his group and believed that they would come out against all odds together, but he feared the off-chance where that wouldn't happen.
"So, where do you live son?" Rick asked him.
"Elegant Street, A-54."
"Ah, that's like, 20 minutes away. We'll be there in no time at all."
"Don't you mean, we'll be there in 20 minutes? Ha HA"!
"Everest, even as a dad, that was horrible."
"I'm Sorry dad," Everest smirked. "Dad jokes are out of my league."
"Oh well. Here we go!" Rick exclaimed, turning the keys as the engine roared to life. They set off into the sunrise, admiring the beautiful pastel scenery that Elegant Street was gifted with.
Chase, on the other hand, was contemplating everything that happened within the span of just a few days. Their lives were starting to feel like a web series. So much was happening to them, with no break.
He was lost in his thoughts again, enchanted by the glorious feeling of returning to his home, his friends, and his love. Wait, Love?
Chase was still unsure about how he felt toward Skye. Their relationship was a weird one to him. He didn't understand what this feeling meant, but he felt deeply drawn toward her.
"By the way, I don't know if you'd want this, but here's the dagger that guy struck you with," Rick said, tossing the dagger to him, nearly hitting him in the face on accident.
A bit startled, he examined the weapon, looking for any clues that could help him uncover the mystery of the supposed murderer. While searching, he uncovered something rather shocking. Something that would prove to be one of the most helpful clues that they needed.
"That guy, the 'Pleasent Street Pacifier', his name was Geoffery Goodman, wasn't it?" Chase asked.
"I'm pretty positive about that."
"If so, his initials would be G.G, right?"
"Yeah. So, what's up? Did you find something?" He inquired.
"This has different initials carved into it!" Chase exclaimed.
"What?! But, you said that he revealed himself to be Geoffrey Goodman! How could that be possible?"
"It could be possible that he was using that name as an alias, probably to hide his true identity."
"That would explain why he was in Elegant Street, despite him having the 'Pleasant Street Pacifier' persona." Everest chimed in.
"Good observation. Oh well, I guess you'll have to do some more digging to find who is truly behind this. I don't know if I'll be able to help you anymore, but will be willing to try." Rick reassured him.
"Thank you. Both of you." Chase said with a smile, weakly but, emotionally. Tired from a . week of constant pressure, he's hit his eyes, and peacefully dozed off to sleep.
It's a bit short, and a bit boring, but, oh well. I guess my first chapter after coming back can't be an instant classic now, can it?
