* back in melia's pov*
"Melia! You ready?" Jake called out from the door. I finally put on my lip balm and hurriedly ran out. I had a pair of black cargo pants, a white crop tee and a black cap on. Can't forget my favourite Converse. "YEAH! Coming!" I yelled back, running out the bedroom door.
Sunghoon was on the couch, scrolling through his phone. "Where are you guys going without inviting me? A date?" He pouted. "Don't do that, it's weird," Jake replied. "And no, Melia needs to file a report for her lost stuff and get some new ones." I nodded as Jake opened the door for me. "Fine. Don't come back too late lovebirds. By the way, you guys are wearing matching outfits," Sunghoon pointed out. I glanced over to look at Jake. We really were matching, except he was wearing a bucket hat instead of a cap.
"Well, I guess it just means we both have good taste, right?" Jake looked at me waiting for my approval. I shrugged. "Or maybe you just decided to copy me" I laughed, hitting his shoulder. "As if. I would NEVER." Jake rolled his eyes as we walked out the door.
As we headed down, Jake gave me his spare bus card. "Don't want you sneaking on to busses anymore now do we" he said as he placed the card in my palm. He didn't move his hand for a while- but I didn't mind.
"Ay Jake! Who's this?" A guy dressed head to toe in designer asked as he saw us walking out of the lift. He must be filthy rich to wear all that casually. "Oh hey, Jay. This is Melia. I'm just helping her out. Sunghoon's upstairs, he'll explain it to you," Jake did a handshake with Jay before they bid their goodbyes.
Suddenly I heard a notification come from Jake's phone. He opened it and laughed. "Jay texted me. He thinks you're hot." Jake gasped, pretending to be shocked. "He must have good taste then," I smirked, walking off. "HEY! WAIT UP!" Jake ran after me and caught up, grabbing my arm. That was sudden. I thought he'd let go, but he didn't. Instead, he locked his arm with mine. "You're not going anywhere alone. You don't have a phone yet, remember? You need me Mel." He raised his eyebrows and clung onto my arm tighter. "Mel? We just met yesterday. Bold of you to give me a nickname already." I know I sounded like I was uncomfortable, but it was cute.
Back home, only my best friend called me Mel. I got reminded of him whenever Jake said it. I bet he was worried dead spam texting me cause I forgot to tell him I landed. That guy's so clingy, though I hate to admit I missed him despite it only being a day. "I wonder what Daniel's doing," I thought aloud. "Who's Daniel?" Jake let go of my arm, crossing both of his instead. "Why do you care? He's just my best friend back home."
Jake let go of my arm the rest of the way. He seemed to be a little more distant after hearing about Daniel.
Finally, we reached the police station. I filed the report and waited outside for Jake who has to make a quick trip to the toilet. When he finally came back out, he turned his head away. "So, you won't see this 'Daniel' guy until you go back to the States, right?" He asked, kicking the rocks at his feet. "Yeah, well, I guess. He went to Harvard so he's staying there." Jake's eyes opened wide. I mean, Harvard was the best school in America.
He proceeded to lock his arm back in mine. "Well whatever. Let's go buy you a new phone." He started running and dragging me alone. "SLOW DOWN!" I yelled, hating having to keep up. This was fun. Jake really knew how to make me feel better.
