chapter 7 - dinner

* Melia POV *

We just got in for dinner and I was a little overwhelmed to be meeting 5 new guys at once. I found out I was the same age as Sunghoon, Jay and Jake, making me older than the two younger ones Jungwon and Sunoo. Not to mention Heeseung who had just greeted us a while ago was only a year older.

"So, university huh? Something we'll never get the chance to do now" Jay shrugged. I guessed wanting to be an idol meant not having time to commit to a full-time degree, but I doubt it phased them if it was truly their dream. Jay could speak fluent English too thankfully- I found out he was from the States like me and we actually had a lot in common.

"Yeah cause we're going to de-" Jake covered Jungwon's mouth before he could finish his sentence. "Be really busy. We're going to be really, really busy." Jake finished. I couldn't really figured out what Jungwon meant to say and just continued eating. Jake suddenly started cutting more meat for me and asking me to eat as much as I wanted.

I sat on the couch for a while afterwards because Jake had to go talk to the manager. I saw a PS4 console on their TV table and got really excited. "Do y'all have FIFA on this thing? I really want to play," I asked as I turned to the guys. "You? Play FIFA? Dude you could be our 8th member. C'mon, I bet I'll trash you," Heeseung replied as he sat beside me and got another controller. I really began to feel at home with these guys around, it was as if I never left my older brothers back home.

* JAKE POV *
Right before we got back, Manager Kim texted me. He had seen me interlock arms with Melia on the way home and said he needed to talk. I asked if I could at least have dinner first and he agreed. I couldn't stop thinking about what was waiting for me after as dinner went along.

I really didn't want Melia to worry about our group activities. We were all she had for now and who knows when she'd be able to get her stuff back. And I wanted her to stay around me. It had been so long since I had a friend outside the company, especially since I never got the chance to make any after flying here from Australia.

I went to meet Manager Kim after dinner in the dining room and let Melia wait at the couch with the rest. I hoped she managed to communicate with them with her Korean skills at a low- though they did get better as the day passed.

"Jake. You know the rules." Manager Kim let out a sigh.

I nodded. No one's allowed over, no going out with girls, I guess those were the two among the many rules we had that Manager Kim was referring to. It was for the best. It was so we could have a smooth debut and no scandals would get in the way and for the safety of our group- so that the chances of our dorm address leaked would reduce.

"But I heard from Sunghoon that this girl is in need of help. And I get your concern. So once her stuff is back with her, you know the drill."

Yeah, I did. But I didn't know how to do it without hurting Melia.

I walked back to the living room to see her playing with Heeseung hyung. Wow, this girl really knew how to have fun. She looked super happy as she managed to score goal after goal, cheering her victory, and her smiles just looked better each time they grew.

"Woah Mel. Might mistake you for one of the bros soon," I joked.

"Shut up, you're just mad I'm this good at FIFA," she stuck her tongue out and continued focusing on the game. Cute.

God knows I was lying to myself though. I was beginning to see this girl as so much more but I had to pretend nothing affected me so that I wouldn't let any feelings get the best of me. I'd only be hurting myself, and her.
