Chapter 3: Confrontation

Sonya picked her drone apart while she and Taishi waited for Raiden. "How were your Scorpion and Sub-Zero able to fuse? I have never seen something like this in any of the realms." "Your guess is as good as mine but I imagine it was one of Quan Chi's new spells." Raiden stepped through the door. "Glad you could make it. Now where do we start?" Once her mouth opened, static spewed from her walkie talkie. "This is General Blade." "Mom." "Cassie? What's going on?" "An army of Netherrealm demons are attacking the Desert Command. We're fighting back but I don't know how long we can hold them off." "I'll be out there with reinforcement soon. Keep fending them off while we're getting there. Blade out." "I wish to assist you." Taishi requested. "I'm sure you two are skilled separately but I don't want you risking your lives due to inexperience together." she explained while preparing battle gear. The ninja opened his mouth to argue but quickly shut it and took a deep breath. "I cannot explain why I am compelled, but I must join you. Perhaps this is the Elder Gods' doing." Raiden gave Sonya a look of consideration. "Well if you insist, I guess I can't stop you."

Sonya, Taishi, and a horde of soldiers charged into the desert command. "You sure about this? You can always fall back." "I am sure, General Blade." "Alright. Good luck out there." "I wish the same for you."

A horde of roaring demons sprinted towards Taishi. Many were sliced through with scorching katanas or a frozen sword. Others were simply burned or shattered. Just as the final demon was to be finished, a glowing, green skull blew a hole through it and rammed into Taishi's chest, knocking him down. Looking from where it came, he saw Quan Chi and Noob Saibot stroll towards him. "You have returned once again." Quan Chi spoke. "And weaker than before." Noob Saibot taunted. "We do not have to fight, brother." "You are only part Lin Kuei. We are far from brothers." "Now, repulsive hybrid, you shall rejoin both of your clans in the Netherrealm." the hybrid flared up and dashed to the sorcerer.
