Ch 7: Revenge

I woke up to someone calling my phone. I jolted my head up answering the phone not seeing who it was.

"Hello?" I said.

"Get to my house now" he said.

I looked at my phone to see Toppers name.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"Now" he said.

I hung up the phone changing into clothes, grabbing my keys and running to my car. I sped over to Topper's running up to the front door.

"Top!" I yelled.

"Back here" he yelled.

I walked to the back to see Topper near the dock. I ran down to meet him.

"Where's your boat?" I asked.

"Pogues" he said.

"What?" I asked.

"The keys are still in the house it has to be down there" he said.

"You really think Pope and JJ did what? Sink your boat?" I asked.

"My moms going to kill me" Topper said grabbing his hair.

"How would it have sunk so fast?" I asked.

He shrugged his shoulders.

"How am I supposed to help?" I asked.

"Calm my mom down when she gets here. She loves you" Topper said.

A couple minutes passed as Toppers mom walked down the dock with someone beside her. A boat came speeding in looking for Topper's Malibu. I smiled as she neared.

"Miss Thornton" I smiled.

"Liz" she smiled but that smile faltered as she looked to Topper.

Soon enough Toppers boat was being pulled up.

"Boat like this don't just sink Doctor Thornton" the guy said.

"How much is this going to cost me?" She asked.

"Submerged twenty-four hours so you're looking at twenty-five, thirty K" he said.

"And insurance won't cover it?" She asked.

"No not for operator error" he chuckled. "Plug wasn't in there."

She glared at Topper.

"Well why you looking at me?" Topper asked.

"Why do you think?" She snapped.

"Top don't start" I whispered.

"I thought since you are older you would take a little more responsibility for your actions!" She said.

"I did not do this! Why is this my fault?" He asked.

"Because it usually is" she said walking away.

I put my hand on Topper's arm.

"It'll be okay Top" I said. "I'll meet you guys later at the club."

I drove to the Wreck to talk with my parents about money. As I sat at the table my father pointed to the numbers on the paper.

"That's how much we made last month alright" he said.

"Okay" I said looking at the papers more.

"This is how much of that money we pay to the employees. It's all about balancing the money correctly Elizabeth. That's why we don't buy our food in bulk we buy them daily to not waste any food" he said.

I glanced at Kiara as she helped a table.

"I wish she had the same interests as you" he said looking at her.

"She wants to do good on this planet. Preserve wildlife and helping with pollution, I say her interests are good" I said. "Don't be hard on her."

He nodded slightly smiling. I turned around to see John B, JJ and Pope walk in. I looked at my dad as his jaw clenched.

"Leave them be" I whispered.

"That Maybank kid pulled a gun on Topper" he whispered back.

"Dad I said leave it" I said.

He grabbed the papers walking into the back. I got up grabbing my keys and walking out the door. I unlocked my car jumping into the driver seat. I stopped in front of the smoothie shop walking inside.

"Good morning Miss Carrera! What can I get for you?" The lady behind the counter asked.

"Two strawberry banana's, a mango and a mixed berry please" I said.

She smiled putting it into the computer. I handed her my card as she yelled out the order to the young boys behind her. I took a twenty dollar bill from my wallet putting it into their tip jar.

"Do you need a carrier?" She asked.

"Yes please" I said.

She carefully put the drink in sliding the carrier to me.

"Thank you" I said walking out.

I put the carrier into the passenger seat driving to the country club. I pulled into the valet grabbing the drinks.

"Morning Elizabeth" the man at the valet counter said.

"Morning" I smiled.

I walked to the back looking around for the boys. I saw Olivia Jansy waiting tables. She smiled walking towards me.

"You seen my boys?" I asked her.

"Working out" she laughed.

I nodded my head walking around to the side of the building. I smiled holding up the drinks walking up to them. I handed the mango to Topper, the peach to Kelce and one of the strawberry bananas to Rafe.

"What are we talking about?" I asked sipping my drink.

"Payback" Rafe said. "All's I'm saying is revenge."

"Hit them back. He put a gun to your head Top" Kelce said.

"That's not a good idea" I said.

"There's a movie tonight in the park let's go and rough them up a bit. They'll learn not to mess with us just because we're Kooks" Rafe said.

"I need to grab something from my car" I said setting my drink down.

They all nodded. As I walked towards my car I noticed a guy standing near it.

"Can I help you?" I asked.

"Looking for country club I've seen him in this vehicle before" he said.

"Country club? That's my vehicle" I said.

"Oh the Kook princess?" He asked smirking. "Where's country club?"

"Who's country club?" I asked.

I noticed marks on his face. He walked towards me grabbing my arms putting me against my car.

"Hey! Get your hands off her!" Topper yelled walking towards us.

Rafe and Kelce not far behind him. Rafe pushed him off me.

"Do you need something" he yelled.

"You owe me money Rafe!" The guy yelled walking away.

"What the hell!" I yelled. "What have you gotten yourself into?"

"Don't worry about it" he said. 

"Yeah tell me not to worry about it while he pushed me up against my car!" I said. "I'm going home."

"Lizzy!" Rafe said pushing my door closed.

"I promise I'll stop" he said. "I just owe him money."

"I'm not doing this if you continue do it" I said getting into my car.

He stepped back as I pulled away. I drove to my house sitting in my car as I cried.
