"okay? i can just take you home-"

"no! sam. listen to me. i have cancer, okay?" deena sighed as she sat down on the ground.

"it can't be. please tell me you're joking, deena." sam said, looking down at her.

"why would i be joking? it's true."

"you're still young.. i don't understand..." sam said as her voice started breaking.

"we found out a few years back but i stopped responding to treatments and now.. they don't know if i'm gonna make it."

it felt like sam's heart was about to come out from her chest. her heart was beating that fast. "no.. that's insane.. you can't just.. leave me like this.."

"you can't do anything, sam." deena said, slowly getting up. "don't talk to me anymore, alright? i'm probably getting weaker just by talking to you."

sam felt like she was gonna pass out once those words came out of deena's mouth. she didn't think this would all happen.

"goodbye, sam." she said before walking away.

sam stood there in shock, not knowing what to do. she couldn't believe what just happened. she started tearing up and watched deena walk away. "bye, deena."

sam went inside her house to see her parents that have finally arrived home.

"samantha, where were you?" her dad asked.

sam just stood there not saying anything.

"we heard you have a girlfriend." sam's dad continued. "were you with her just now?"

"none of your damn business." sam replied as she tried going upstairs to her room until her dad stopped her. "i don't like this attitude."

"my girlfriend is dying and you don't even have the need to ask how i'm doing? or if i'm okay? GOD, JUST FUCKING ROT ALREADY." sam yelled, pushing her dad away and going into her room. she slammed the door closed and locked it so no one would go in and disturb her.

she slid down to the ground and started crying to herself.

she felt bad because all she ever did to deena was hurt her all her life. and now that she found out sam used her and that she's sick. it made everything even more worse.
