Shen POV
Xia is surprising on so many levels. I loved how she didn't let my Mother take over earlier today. Then when she mentioned my house outside the city and what she'd like to do there? Well let's just say I've been trying to list all the past Kings in order and I'm still semi hard.
Xia fell asleep as we reached the outskirts of the city. I managed to stop and get some food and condoms. We are about 10 minutes away from the house. The sky has clouded over and it looks like it might rain.
"Xia we are here" I say gently as I don't want to shock her awake. She turns her head towards me and cracks open an eye. "Sorry I've slept instead of keeping you company?" she apologises
"You also need the rest, do you want me to carry you in?" I offer she smiles and shakes her head rubbing the her face to wake herself up.
"I'm good, it looks like rain" she says looking out the window. "I'll grab the shopping, come on" I encourage. I get the bags and then tell her to take the key from pocket to open the door.
"It feels chiller than before" she says stepping into the house and kicking off her shoes. Once I have the shopping away. I ask if she wants me to start a fire. She smiles and nods "I love real fires. When I was small and we went camping. Dad use to say the flames from the camp fires told us stories" she tells me as I start to build a fire.
"Well you made that look easy" she says when it starts to catch and crackle in the hearth.
"Are you hungry? I bought some salad pasta and meat. Then some chicken for later" I tell her
"I feel really bad sleeping, not only while you drove here but even shopped. I promise I'll cook you a meal later?" she promises
I go to the kitchen and she helps me put out the pasta salad and cold meat cuts. We sit down at the table as the heavens open and it pours down.
Xia tilts her head and closes her eyes listening to the rain hit the roof "I love the sound of rain when we are all cosy and warm inside" she sighs smiling. We eat our late lunch and talk about what else I plan to do with the house.
"Making a studio or extra living space above the garage is a good idea. You could also make a bridge that connects it to the main house from the second floor. The road side could be solid but the side that looks out onto the fields and tree's could be glass. Using modern lighting to showcase it" Xia suggests
I think about how it would look "it would keep with the old theme of the house, but from the field side you could see the modern touches like the large sliding window and balcony" I say nodding.
"I also thought about the decking you said you might add and the planters to reduce the wind. If you planted bamboo and tall grasses it would blend more with the surrounding and offer greater protection from the elements. That way you could have a bamboo roof over the seating area? Ahh then,," Xia says grabbing her bag and taking out her note pad.
I clear away the plates as she sketches, as I walk past her to poke the fire. She grabs my arm "look if you could have furniture like this it would really fit in" she says pulling me closer to her to look at her sketch.
I sit down and pull the pad towards me "they look like the round pebbles in the river" I say more to myself fascinated how she has thought of all elements surrounding the house.
"Yes, exactly. If you used rattan or wicker to build the frame's and then large cushions in muted greys, blues and greens. It would really fit in well with the surrounding?" she says her eyes shinning like a thousand stars live in them.
