A woman had entered Camulodunum, looking for the Green Knight.
When the woman spotted Sir Bertilak, she ran weeping towards the knight.
" Please, sir, you must save my child! "
The knight did not need to hear more.
Sir Bertilak now rode out, to save the child; who was being held captive by the King of the Giants; Ysbaddaden.
Sir Bertilak was slowly riding through the quiet woods.
" The giant must have scared all the animals away... " said the knight, quietly.
Sir Bertilak's horse now stopped.
The horse refused to go any further.
" You are scared as well... " said the knight with a smile; " very well "
Sir Bertilak dismounted.
With sword in hand, the knight walked deeper into the dark woods.
This Green Knight did not feel alone or scared. For he felt at home in the woods.
All the pebbles on the ground; jumped up for a second.
Sir Bertilak could also feel the shaking.
" Here he comes... " said the knight, as he saw trees being pushed aside.
Ysbaddaden was now towering over the tiny knight.
Sir Bertilak whistled in astonishment.
" Do not waste my time with pointless flattery " said Ysbaddaden with a booming voice; " what is it you seek? "
" A child... which you hold captive "
Ysbaddaden glared down at the knight. The giant then said;
" Is that all? Here. Take the child and be gone "
It took a few seconds for the knight to process; what Ysbaddaden had just said.
" You lie! " yelled Sir Bertilak; " you are just trying to make me lower my guard! "
The knight believed his own words. Till he saw the missing child. Coming running towards him, from behind Ysbaddaden's foot.
" I don't understand... " said the knight, as he held the child.
" The child was lost " said Ysbaddaden; " I was merely watching over the child, till someone came looking for it. And since you are here. My task is done "
Ysbaddaden now started to walk away.
" Thank you, Gentle Giant! " yelled the child.
A faint smile could be seen on Ysbaddaden's face.
