Myrddin was calmly walking through the forest.
The sound of his footsteps, and of his staff, could both be heard; as he made his way through the woods.
The wind gently passed through his grey hair and long beard.
Myrddin had to grab hold of his blue hat; so that it did not fly away.
The kind old wizard used magic to give some baby birds; food.
" You are impressive, " said an owl.
Myrddin looked up at the creature, who was sitting on a branch; above him.
" You are a long way from home, " said Myrddin, as he held forth his arm.
The owl accepted Myrddin's offer. And the creature now flew onto Myrddin's arm.
" Who are you, friend? " Myrddin asked.
" Ascalaphus "
Myrddin's eyes widened. He then smiled, as he introduced himself.
Ascalaphus could now be seen sitting on Myrddin's shoulder, as the two of them made their way through the forest.
As Myrddin walked, the whole forest seemed to change... for the better.
The rotten became fresh.
The wounded healed.
The dying found peace.
All these miracles took place; by the Guardian of the Woods.
" You are a guardian, a teacher, and a mage, " said Ascalaphus.
" I simply prefer; a long bearded old man - with a long stick "
Ascalaphus giggled.
The two friends both walked through mother nature.
When Myrddin's walk was over, he returned back to the King.
Ascalaphus followed, as he had decided to become the companion of the; Long Bearded Old Man - with a Long Stick.
