Angelo Vander

For God sakes, she really did get me.

"You really didn't let me grab my phone." She said and I ignored her.

"I should have done this years ago." She whispered and I sighed.

"Don't flatter yourself.." I said.

"I know for the fact that.. someone like you won't settle down. I don't even know how important I am to you or what am I to you?"

"You left me on graduation day. You suddenly disappeared, no trace or even a note saying goodbye."

"I waited for you. For 4 years of my life, I spent shutting myself from having boys around. I was waiting for you and then I realized that I was a fool." She let out a sarcastic laugh.

"I was a fool for waiting someone like you. Someone who doesn't even know how to hold on to their words." She said.

"10 years later.. you came back like it was nothing." She hissed.

"I even had to do this just to make you take me to your house. I guess I really do have to do things like this to keep you around huh? I guess I'm that low to you." I pulled over to the side. I turned to her.

"What do you expect me to do back then?" I asked.

"Confess to you? Date you? I can't even buy myself three meals a day and you expected me to date a daughter of one of the richest man in Paris? Are you kidding me?"

"I ran away hoping that I can prove everyone wrong. I can be someone who is worthy to date you!" I can't believe her.

"Then why didn't you comeback to me after you succeed?" She asked as she looked out the window.

"It's complicated, Dakota. There's a lot of things happened in my life and I just.. I just can't be with you. I don't want to settle down." I said truthfully.

"What? Because you kill people for a living? Is that true?" She asked and she was crying.

"Yeah." It's better for her to know it that way.

"Did you kill him?"

"No, I was going to but no." I answered as I leaned my head back. How I wish my driver can drive faster than this?

"Then why can't you let me go?" What?

"You were drunk and you were calling Chance.. you said that you can't let me go." Damn it!

"I'm not answering that."

"You should have just go earlier, I rather having fun than being with you. You always making me frustrated and you always make me cry for the past 10 years." I looked out the window.

"I do a lot of dangerous things. Sometimes I regreted it but sometimes I don't. I love my current job right now and I don't think I would have been wherr I am today without it."

"Doing dangerous things means having a lot people around you in danger. Having no one on my side gives me a lot of rooms to do a lot of things."

"You know I was going to marry Franco, you were going to let me huh?" She asked.

"Why would I show myself on your birthday then?" I answered and turned to her. At the same time, wemre arrived at my place. I got out from the car and waited for her to get out.

We walked into the building and went straight to my penthouse. I texted my secretary to arrange people on taking all of Dakota's things from that apartment. I'm going to find her a place near my apartment.

"Angelo." She called me and I turned to her.

"I'm tired."

"You can go upstairs and go to the second room on the left. You ca-"

"No.. I'm tired of you." She looked straight into my eyes.

"I'm tired loving you for 10 years. I think I've had enough. It's good that you showed up again, at least.. it gave me some kind of.. assurance that you're alive and healthy."

"I really want to find someone who can cherish me the way I cherish them. I want them to love me the way I love them. I want to be happy, have a family and just.. living my ordinary life."

"I've had sleepless nights, I've had a lot of mental breakdowns and a countless of tears because of you. It came to me earlier that, in the end of the day.. you will never be with me." She sighed.

"I've had enough of your excuses and you running away. I don't want to hear it anymore and I'll just take this as a rejection that I should have heard 10 years ago." She walked towards the stairs and my heart was hurting hearing that.

"I'm a part of ILLICIT." I don't know why I said that but it just came out from my mouth.

"After I joined ILLICIT, my life changed. My job requires me to deal with dangerous people. We kill people for sports sometimes, we deal with a lot of dangerous weapons and we have to keep it low about our private lives."

"A few years ago, something happened that change our perspective about our job that's why I don't want to risk it. Sometimes it's either you or me that could die anytime." I said and she turned around.

"I'm not going to be around anymore, Angelo. Don't worry, you don't need to think about it anymore. I understand." She smiled.

"Give me time until the end of the month, at least.. I have to wrap up my work first then I'll leave you alone." She then walked upstairs leaving me alone with all of this weird emotions.

I walked to the balcony and closed my eyes.

"It's for the best. It's really for the best for us." I said to myself. My phone rang and it's Dean.

"What? It's midnight."

"I want you to come with me to Athens tomorrow. We have some problem our project there." He said.

"Okay."
