Jeongguk had only known Kim Namjoon for 4 months. That's how long it had had been since he and Yoonji had moved in next door to them.
In that time, Jeongguk and Namjoons' interactions were limited. After all, Yoongi and Namjoon were married.
In the pit of his stomach he knew he shouldn't have felt the way he did around the older man.
After he had a girlfriend. One that he loves?
Loved? It made him sick to think of how it would hurt Yoonji if she found out about his true feelings.
She was a sweet woman, one he doesn't regret meeting. It was Jeongguks' fault for not coming to terms with this feeling sooner.
But it wasn't just the feelings he had for Namjoon. How he felt about Yoongi made it even worse.
The jealousy bubbling up inside of him made him feel like a monster.
A homewrecker. The man he mused about and the other man he belonged to.
Kim Namjoon and Min Yoongi will be his downfall. So why he decided it would be a good idea to be led into a dimly lit Parisian restaurant, puzzled him.
But it wasn't as complicated as he thought, of course he jumped at the chance to have dinner with Kim Namjoon. He remembers an excerpt from this book he read in college, it said "He too was a tempter. He too was a link to the other second, the evil world with which I no longer wanted to have anything to do [with]."
There was something about Namjoon that drew Jeongguk to him. His looks were all there, but beneath the statuesque beauty was something mysterious.
Temptation, lust, drew Jeongguk to Namjoon.
He was playing a dangerous game, but this was the only time in his life where he would be doing something for himself.
At that moment, he was sitting there, alone with Kim Namjoon.Sipping wine, and eating food too expensive to pronounce.
He wanted something more.
He pushed down the vomit collecting in his throat.
"Jeongguk-ah, do you know why some women are called black widows and men, bluebeards'?" Namjoon asked, snapping Jeongguk out of his thoughts.
He looked at Jeongguk as he took sips from his glass, waiting expectantly for an answer.
Jeongguk shook his head, he didn't know.
But at the moment it felt like he had lost most of his motor skills."N-no, actually. I've never heard those terms outside of discussing biology or literature.", Jeongguk said, pretty satisfied with his ability to form basic sentences.
A low but hearty laugh escaped Namjoon's throat, Jeongguk was confused, he didn't understand what was funny.
The first few words he's spoken tonight, and he's being laughed at.
He wanted to sob."Jeongguk-ah, your naivety is refreshing.", he said, ruffling his hair.
"Adorable", he whispered in English.
Jeongguk couldn't have been more flustered, he didn't know what to say.
He thinks Namjoon got the hint, because not long after he answered his own question."The terms, when not being used outside of literature and biology, have been used to describe people who kill or leave their lovers after they've served a purpose."
"Which is accurate to the biology of the spiders themselves, since the female is known to kill the male after his job is done. The bluebeard term is less used, but refers to an old tale about a man who marries women only to kill them after.'' Namjoon finishes, clearly amused by Jeongguks' wide eyes.
