Boarding the plane with nearly any sleep was tiring by itself; and it didn't help that Ryuu seemed to attract all the chatty females in the airport, fighting for a chance to flirt with him. The plane couldn't land fast enough for me.
Finding Jaycob was easy considering he was the only person rocking an all-black suit and tinted shades, looking like he just jumped out of "Men In Black", standing in front of Starbucks. A brother on a mission, ha.
He looked to be on the same age level as Ryuu, maybe 24 or 25- give or take. I know he had to be at least six years older than me.
"You two must be Ryuu Takeshi and, of course, the beautiful Neerangana Migisi. It's a pleasure to meet the both of you. My name is Jaycob Kavashi and I will be your guide for now, that is until we reach your destination. However, if there is anything you need during your stay, I'll be happy to help at any time," Jaycob explained as we all bowed slightly.
"The only thing we'll need is the details of our mission. We can save the pleasantries for later." Ryuu exclaimed with an edge in his voice tone and I could almost sense anger radiating from his flexed biceps. It was alarmingly weird, considering Ryuu was always calm, conservative and never got angry.
The first and last time I had ever seen him lose his temper was when we were younger; he had yelled at a group of girls, who were taunting me at the time, with a booming voice that had scared even me for a moment before flying into a rage. And that was about ten years ago, I hoped it wouldn't have surfaced once more. Ryuu getting angry is like imagining the Rock getting angry with you, only more strength and less muscles.
"Well I hope this won't inconvenience you but it is the procedure for you to first settle down in a hotel and then report to the command center after. But seeing that you are as calm and patient as your profile says, I can expect that this shall not bother you. That is unless the contents of your profile may have been poorly judged by the elite and should be reconsidered. Which I highly doubt is the case, am I correct, Mr. Takeshi?" Jaycob spoke a little too proudly.
"The elite made no mistake with my profile's contents. I would think it is due more to your incompetence to review all of my profile's contents, and you would then haven been aware of the warning at the bottom explaining that my temper can be activated at any time. I would suggest being smart enough to know not to push my buttons." Ryuu growled as the two glared at each other.
Well this is just great; boys just being boys... always trying to show off. Growing irritated, I pushed through them and entered Starbucks. After ordering two lemon squares and a venti caramel Frappuccino, the boys sat on either side of the round, pearl white table. This manor from Jaycob didn't really bother me since I didn't know him; however, for Ryuu to be participating was mind-blowing, out of character and starting to really annoy me. 'Ight, that's it.
"Look, if the two of you don't quit comparing penises, I'ma leave the both of y'all here with no car or cards. Now, get back to business 'fore I lose it," I hissed at them. My head whirled from an empty stomach, exhaustion and boys. I could have sworn I was watching elementary kids going at it looking at these two.
After eating, Jaycob showed us to our motel, if that's what you'd call it, that we would be residing in for the time being. The sight was grand to me: the polished wooden floors, the Japanese art strung along the walls, the medieval look was a beauty in my eyes. The rooms also had brown wooden floors, a plush twin-sized futon bed in the middle with heavy sliding, tan wooden doors, a flat screen plastered against the wall, and anything else you could find in a modernized, but aged Japanese style room. I met Ryuu at the main entrance. "Waiting for someone?" I spoke after a few moments of silence.
"Are you ok?" I asked with concern. Seeing the silent face, I had an urge to touch his shoulder, but thought better of it. Instead, I tried to read his thoughts but felt a wall between our minds.
He had blocked me.
Now, I am really taken aback. "Why don't we buy some praline ice cream? I know you can't pass that up." I asked, causing Ryuu to smile. Really, ya' old bipolar behind. A sweets stand was parked near a green pond area, Ryuu and I talked and joked with creamy treats in hand. I loved the cool, sugary delight; it was wrapped with crystalized sugar, with warm caramel and vanilla ice cream mixed in the middle. I had at least five medium cups back-to-back. Going for my sixth cup of paradise, Ryuu called me greedy before paying for everything. "Yeah, yeah. Go ahead and laugh; you're still paying for my ice cream. Keep it up and I just might make you pay for another one," I said, skipping away from him.
"Yeah and watch how you come running back to me with a major brain freeze. Usaiii," he made a grunting noise trying to playfully grab me. I punched him in the arm for making me laugh.
Looking around the park, it was a beauty to see. Tall bright green grass and rainbows of pretty wildflowers covered every inch of the park. Giant replicas of bonsai trees seemed to touch the skyline in an organized but messy way around the sparkling body of water in the middle of the park. The pond reminded me of those beaches you'd see on vacation postcards. So, this is what it's like to be in an imperial palace garden. Even the stones seemed colored with moss on top. It was breathtaking for me. Ryuu is one person who could find the best places on short notice. Although Japan was his home country, he rarely traveled here.
Going through the bustling market center, seeing the many treasures, trinkets, and decorated weapons, I couldn't help but gasp in amazement. Jewelry was truly not my thing, but weaponry was a love of mine, being surrounded by it made my knees melt to chocolate. Ryuu loved it too. He laughed at my excited thoughts that I let pervade his mind. Just as Ryuu was starting to say something, Jaycob pulled out of nowhere, and the same intimidating look from the airport drenched Ryuu's face, more aggravated and intense this time.
