It took a few days for me to finally convince my doctor that I was well enough to leave with a couple of painkillers in tow. He said my injuries were minor except for the broken ribs; but he couldn't understand how I was able to take so many hits and only have broken ribs. Guess God still likes me. I had been staying in the palace's infirmary for a week with Se Ra staying close beside me. I hated not being able to fully protect as I was supposed to be but I still managed to do most of my duties. Yang Su and his man had been quiet for a while and the men from the factory were still not talking. Ryuu left my black bag by the hospital door but never came to see me again after our last conversation. I slipped out of the Palace into my rental. Driving to Starbucks an hour away, I looked over the stacks of paper with a large caramel Frappuccino in my car. Most of the stuff were copies of illegal transactions and that kind of nature, I managed to organize them and set them aside. I'm sure this will be a nice gift for the police. There was a small letterhead sticking out of a brown, dusty folder:
It's been awhile, my friend. Meet me by the waters.
-Jiro
Why is that name so familiar? I put the note in my pocket and picked up the next letter:
Yang Su,
The preparations have been completed for the attack. The time has been set for the coronation. The wedding has been set. Their wealth will be yours. We'll meet Wednesday.
Whose wedding? I moved to put everything back in my bag just as I noticed a slightly burnt map at the bottom of my bag. Opening it up, there was three places circled in red and a note on the middle circle:
Base- 8/10
7:46
This is getting really irritating. I would've figured that the man who wrote me about the 'tests' planted the evidence but if he could do all of this then he could just bring in Yang Su himself. Unless, this was just a part of Yang Su's plan and I was being toyed with.
Writing the places down, I stuck the note to it then pocketed it. Placing everything back into my bag for the final time, I drove out of the parking lot while popping a pill into my mouth. Going to the second light, I noticed a black Sedan tailing me on the left. I turned on my right signal and swerved to the left as soon as I hit the turn. I was able to get a few yards before my tail appeared again. It tried to nip my bumper but I moved to turn down an alleyway before it could touch me, making him swerve pretty hard. I took a couple more sharp turns and entered the highway again right in front of a tractor trailer. Moving at 130 mph, I took a turn at the second nearest exit and disappeared into rush hour traffic. That was close. I went to my garage I rented a few months ago and switched cars before heading back to the palace. I parked near the woods behind the employee quarters; I could see everyone preparing for the upcoming coronation. Just as I stepped away from my car, it exploded knocking me to the ground. My ears rang as I heard muffled screams and the humming of boots. I felt myself being dragged from the car, causing a sharp pain on my side. Glass shards nicked the skin on my arms before I could lift myself to my knees with the support of something in front of me. Not long after, a bigger explosion took the little hearing I had left. Was... that my... car? How? My head pounded and I could feel my shirt was wet with blood as I struggled to catch my breath. The employees quarters was on the palace grounds but still detached from the main palace itself, blocked by another gate. It wouldn't take long for the guards to get to this site. I pulled myself up and walked on the outskirts of the road to avoid being seen and was let in through the back gate. A few guards attempted to help me as I waved them off towards the explosion. Slumping into my room, I took a quick shower and stitched whatever open wounds I could reach. I used my tweezers to take shards out of my arms. Someone had to have bugged my cars in the garage. Grabbing my phone, I sent a text to Jaycob.
Have my garage swept now. Send me surveillance. And keep Ryuu out of this
- Neera
On it
-Jaycob
After his text, I threw my phone on the stand and took a few more pills before succumbing to sleep. I could wait for whatever details in the morning.
