Chapter 9: Fall From Grace

Earlier in the House: Mark just got home from work and is greeted by his daughter Sophia. Sophia's six years old and she runs to her father, "Dad!" She hugs his leg and looks up at him, "How was work?" She has a glimmer in her eye and Mark smiles and picks her up, "My day was okay Sophie. How was your day at school?" She laughs as he tickles her, "It was okay dad." They hug as Olivia comes downstairs. Olivia crosses her arms, "What do you think you're doing out of bed missy?" Olivia looks shocked and looks at Mark, "Um, I was saying hi to dad." Mark sets her down and waves to him, "Bye dad." He laughs, "Bye my love." She puts her head down and goes upstairs.

    Mark then hears a noise come from upstairs. He goes up to the stairs and sees Sophia hiding, "Sophie was that you?" Sophia shakes her head, "No, it wasn't me. I think someone is in the house." Mark looks at Olivia. He runs to their room to see a man putting on his clothes. Olivia rubs her forehead as Mark's eyes widen, "Seriously?" The man turns around slowly, "Hey Mark." He nervously laughs, "Don't hey Mark me." Olivia stands in between them, "Mark, calm down." He pushes her out of the way. The man's eyes widen and he runs at Mark. He tackles Mark and they wrestle on the floor. The exchange blows, "Your wife loves me more than you." Olivia calls 911 as the men continue fighting.

    They both tumble downstairs but Mark seems to be okay. He grabs the man by the shirt and throws him against the wall, "My wife?! Really?!" He punches the man a couple of more times. The man stumbles on the floor and tries to pull himself up. Mark is following him. They end up in the kitchen where the man tries to grab a knife and he cuts Mark. Mark exclaims in pain. He grabs the man by the throat, causing the man to drop the knife. They're both on the floor now as Mark continues to choke the man. The man tries to grab Mark's face but it isn't working.

    Mark picks the man up and smashes his head on the sink and he continues to do it until he sees blood. Mark then grabs the knife that the man dropped, "This is for being a homewrecker." He stabs the man. But he didn't feel bad after he felt joy. He continued to stab the man until his face was covered in blood. He sat down realising what he had just done. He leans his head against one of the kitchen drawers and smiles. He grabs the knife and puts it inside of his pocket. He then heads to Sophia's room where he sees Olivia and Sophia in a corner hugging together. They look absolutely terrified. Mark puts his hands up, "It's okay. It's me, your dad and your husband Mark. I'm not going to hurt you. I promise." Olivia scoffs, "Liar. The man I knew wouldn't hurt another human, especially to the point where his face is covered in blood." Mark laughs, "Oh please. It's your fault he's dead! If you didn't cheat on me he probably would still be alive!"
    Mark takes out the knife and Sophia screams, "Now! I'm tired of this Olivia. I guess I'll have to kill you too." Sophia screams, "No!" She starts crying. Before Mark can stab the knife, glass shatters and Sophia cheers, "Spider-Man!" Mark slowly turns around and sees Alex, "Oh, Spider-Man. What brings you here?" Alex scoffs, "The fact that you're about to kill your family over a homewrecker." Mark laughs, "It isn't my fault." Alex scoffs, "Oh yeah? Then who's fault is it?" Mark points the knife towards Olivia, "It's hers!" Alex webs up the knife and pulls it away from Mark, "There, no more weapons." Mark scoffs and runs at Alex. But Alex moves out of the way. Causing Mark to bump into the wall, "You will not hurt them." Marks starts rubbing his head, "You won't be able to stop me!" He charges at Alex again but yet again Alex moves out of the way.

    Alex looks at the knife. He's never held a murder weapon before. He throws the knife at Mark's leg causing him to fall to one knee, "I told you, you won't hurt anyone else." Alex uppercuts Mark, which makes him fall all the way back. He grabs Mark by his shirt and punches him again. He punches him again and again until there is blood. Olivia starts crying. Alex picks him up and throws him into a wall. His face is beaten and battered. He looks up at Olivia and Sophia, "I'm sorry." Alex turns him over and continues to punch him. Finally Olivia screams, "Stop! He's had enough Spider-Man!" Alex looks up and sees Olivia and Sophia crying. He looks down, "I'm sorry." He turns around and shakes his head, "I'm really sorry." He swings out of the room. Police are surrounding the house. He raises his hands, "It's okay officers. He's inside with his family. I didn't kill him." The two detectives that interrogated him at the hospital are outside.
