Chapter 9: Trapped

Jade was tossed into the fun pod, letting out a small groan of pain as she did. She wiped her tears and turned to Aaron, who was curled up in his seat. He was biting the collar of his shirt as tears flowed out of his eyes, if not everyone elses.

"Hey, you okay little dude?" She asked, her voice raspy. "No. I miss my sister." He said through tears. 

"Same here." Jade responded. "I wish there was a way we could get her back to normal, but I guess not." She said, looking down at the floor. 

Everyone gave up on trying to escape, and instead accepted their fates. Suddenly, a loud banging was heard.

It was coming from the white room, the door looking as if it were going to fall off.

"Come on, just a few more kicks!"

Mark kicked the door, a few loose screws falling out in the process. He stepped back to catch his breath.

"I'm telling you, I made the door pretty sturdy." Pal remarked, as she sat on the chair. Mark, Pal, and even the two robot siblings, Eric and Deb, were all in the same room.

"Why do you think she's doing this?" Deb asked their sibling, but all Eric could respond with was a shrug to the shoulders. 

"Why did you even think it was a good idea to make her batshit crazy?!" Mark yelled, looking at Pal dead in the eyes. "I didn't know it was going to go out of hand, okay?" Pal responded, trying to keep her calm demeanor.

Suddenly, a loud knocking was heard on the door, as all the captives turned to look at who it was. 

"CAN YOU STOP THAT BANGING?!" Katie yelled from the other side of the door. The room immediately went silent. Who knew a 17 year old could have such control over so many people?

They heard her footsteps angrily leave the door, as they all took a sigh of relief. 

Mark leaned over to Pal and whispered. "Okay, we need to find a way to get rid of this evil-robot-whatever thing you somehow gave to Katie." Mark said. "Do you know what your using to control her?"

Pal hesitated, but soon spoke up. "If you humans would pay attention to detail, there's a small chip on the side of her neck." She said, a little bit of sass in her voice.

"Alright." Mark thought of a plan for a few seconds, a light bulb finally going off in his head.

Jade, Aaron, Rick, and Linda all sat silently in the pods, thinking if this was how they were going to spend the rest of their lives.

Suddenly a pair of footsteps were heard, almost if they were running.

"GET BACK HERE!" 

Katie's voice echoed through the lair. She ran after Mark and Pal, as Eric and Deb managed to pickpocket from Katie, getting the remote they need to free their family from the Fun Pods.

"We will help you!" Deborah said, as he helped his parents out of the pods, while Eric handled Jade and Aaron.

Mark and Pal ran until they made it to a dead end. Katie slowly walked towards them.

"You shouldn't have done that. " She sneered, her eyes piercing through the two.

"Oh, but we did." Pal remarked.

Pal pulled out a remote, the same remote used to control Katie in the first place. "I made you, and I'll delete you." 

Pal looked Katie in the eyes.

"Goodbye, my apprentice."
