|| Chapter 11 ||

Panic.

That's what everyone felt after the death. Snail's death. Sizzle felt pretty empty after the incident. The...accident? No, the murder.

She was sure that Beam was traumatized after what happened. Three moons, there was so much blood. Sizzle wasn't there to comfort her, however. Coast was nervous so Sizzle tried to do her best to protect the SeaWing but in a way, Coast was actually protecting her.

Everyone was scared. Even Gentoo, with the normally observant physique, seemed a bit on edge. Because there was a killer loose in the school. Squish had called an emergency meeting in the Main Hall on the largest platform, only to inform all the students that the school wasn't going to close but there were a few safety rules set. Sizzle was relieved when hearing that news. The academy wouldn't close. It couldn't close. This was the only place where she could go...and where Coast was.

Right now, two days after Snail's death, Sizzle, Coast, and Gentoo were sitting in the small nook they found the other day. None of their other roommates mentioned a word about Snail so the three of them talked about him themselves. And they were ready to solve this murder mystery case.

"Sizzle, you said that the only movement you saw was that strange shadow right?" Gentoo asked and Sizzle nodded. "Snail died right there. So, that shadow figure is the only clue we have right now." 

Coast sighed. "That must of been so scary," she said softly and nuzzled Sizzle a bit. The SandWing felt her face grow hot and she immediately tried to hide her blush. She prayed that her crush wasn't too obvious. But now was not the time to worry about that. Gentoo stretched out his icy wings and gave Sizzle a comforting glance. "Anyways, our main suspects are all the NightWings because they all have night black scales, all the RainWings because they can camouflage, and anyone who was near the library at this time. Like Sunbeam, right? You did mention to us that she is an animus."

"So?" Sizzle couldn't help but get defensive. Sunbeam was her best friend. She wouldn't betray her like that. She wouldn't kill anyone. "Doesn't mean she's our killer. She's my friend."

"I think what Gentoo is saying is that she could've made herself a shadow or something like that and killed Snail," said Coast, choosing her words carefully. 

"There's no way. She was right next to me the whole time and she seemed thoroughly terrified at the sight of a dead body," Sizzle looked at Gentoo confidently.

Gentoo grumbled. "Fine. But this doesn't mean she's not suspicious." Coast just sat there not really sure who to side with on the argument. The IceWing shook his head. "Alright, moving on. Our suspects have to either be a student or teacher, because those are the only ones who have access to the library platform. And-" Before he could finish, the three of them heard the front door of the Winglet House creak open and Sizzle, who was very curious about everything at this point, rushed out of their small hideout and down the spiral staircase, Coast and Gentoo following her tail.

They reached the foyer of the cozy household and standing in the doorway was Squish and a interesting colored dragon who Sizzle assumed was a SeaWing. The headmistress cleared her throat and introduced the newcomer to Sizzle, Coast, and Gentoo. "You three, this is Cuddlefish." Cuddlefish beamed and gave a small and polite wave and Squish continued, "he'll be replacing...erm, he'll be the seventh dragonet of your Winglet House. I hope you guys get to know each other well!" The MudWing smiled before leaving the four dragons in the room by themselves.

Cuddlefish smiled kindly and placed down the satchel that was tied around his neck. "Hey, guys! I can't believe I'm finally here. I was on the waitlist for this school for a while. It's nice to meet you, three," he shook Sizzle's talons first. 

Coast was the one to introduce everyone. "I'm Coast! And the SandWing with the dazzling eyes is Sizzle and the bright IceWing is Gentoo." Oh my god she thinks my eyes are dazzling, Sizzle grinned in her mind.

Cuddlefish smiled at Coast and went over to shake Gentoo's talons eagerly. Sizzle thought she noticed the look Gentoo had in his face when he shook Cuddlefish's talon, and the IceWing actually seemed speechless.

Coast nudged Cuddlefish. "Would you like us to give you a tour? The Winglet House is amazing!! I'm sure you'll love it," the bubbly SeaWing smiled and the new SeaWing grinned. "Sure. You guys need to catch me up on everything, too because every dragon here has seemed pretty jumpy except for you."

Sizzle stood besides him. "Oh Cuddlefish, you have a lot you need to catch up on-"

Finally I updated another book! And it's like midnight for me rn

Also we may have a ship that's not Cozzle in our hands. I think Tani might get excited XD
