Sizzle was so in love, and she was positive that every dragon had caught on by now. Besides her crush, of course. Coast was the most drop-dead gorgeous dragon she has ever seen and she was sure that all the other dragons thought so, too.
The SandWing was in biology class and she sighed dreamily, trying a little too hard not to stare at the beautiful SeaWing across the classroom. Three moons, I sound like every dragon in any romance scroll ever- she rolled her eyes, but she couldn't help it. How can anyone not love Coast?
Well, back to her school life, which was the most boring part of her life. If it wasn't for Gentoo, Coast, and Cuddlefish, Sizzle might of slightly regretted coming here. But anywhere is better than home. Lion's home. And nobody could ever be more boring than Poison Dart, Sizzle's RainWing biology teacher. "And as you can see from this frog anatomy diagram," Poison Dart motioned towards the chart with his wing, "the femoral artery eventually connects to the sciatic artery. Above both is the common iliac artery..."
"God dammit when do we get to cut open the frog already?" Gentoo groaned from her left and rolled his eyes at Poison Dart, who was still going on and on about arteries and such. "I don't like cutting open the frog," Cuddlefish whispered from her right, and shuddered slightly at the pinned frog that was spread out and laying on their lab table. "Cuddlefish, it's already dead-" Sizzle began but the SeaWing continued. "Okay, I don't care if it's dead, I still don't have to like cutting a frog open," he pouted and Gentoo laughed, and nudged Cuddlefish playfully with his tail full of spines.
They weren't together. Yet. Sizzle was usually not the cupid in their friend group but oh my god, she would absolutely set them up on a secret date if it was necessary. And if neither one of them confessed to each other by the end of the week, Sizzle will definitely take it in her own talons. The SandWing wasn't assuming they liked one another. She knew they liked one another. Well, at least one of them. Gentoo and Sizzle were walking to class a few days ago, and she asked him what he thought of Cuddlefish. The way he blushed told her everything, and he even admitted that he liked him. Subtly, but a crush is a crush. He also said that if Sizzle told anyone, he would totally smite her. "Like you can!" Sizzle had snorted and Gentoo pushed her, slightly. She hadn't told anyone of course. But she will take action if Cuddletoo didn't happen.
Three moons, it was easier to think about someone else's love life versus her own. She was getting better at being more herself around Coast, and not like some dorky dragon. Although, that personality never completely left her.
The ringing bell interrupted her train of thought and Coast caught up with Sizzle, Gentoo, and Cuddlefish on the main platform. "Hey guys!" she beamed at Sizzle and the SandWing grinned back. "What classes do you have next?"
"Gentoo and I are headed to literature, what about you two?" Cuddlefish glanced at them. "History," Sizzle said and Coast sighed, "Library."
"I'll walk you to the library if you ant, Coast," Sizzle smiled softly and Coast blushed. "I would like that!" Cuddlefish tilted his head and smiled a bit playfully. "Siz, the library is completely out of the way from the history classroom..." "I know! It's just, the library can be dangerous...erm...sometimes."
"Okay, sure. We'll meet you guys at the Winglet House for lunch," said Gentoo, raising his eyebrows at Sizzle before leaving with Cuddlefish.
Coast smiled her gorgeous smile. "Those two are so cute! I'm surprised they are a couple yet!" Sizzle nodded. "Right??" They both laughed, for way longer than they needed to as the were walking towards the library. In fact, they were still laughing when Sizzle ran right into Sunbeam.
Sunbeam blushed brightly when she saw the SandWing but she quickly recovered herself. "Sizzle, hi! I haven't seen you in so long!" Sunbeam hugged her which was a bit awkward to Sizzle, "who's this?"
"I'm Coast! One of Sizzle's best friends," the SeaWing seemed to blush at saying "best friends". God, you don't you how much I want us to be more than just best friends, Sizzle thought, her longing for Coast to be by her side growing.
Sizzle couldn't read Beam's expression. The brown SandWing just let out a quiet, "Oh, really?" and that made Sizzle slightly nervous for some reason. Sunbeam could get slightly jealous, because Sizzle knew Beam liked her a little bit. But she wouldn't actually take action and hurt someone.
Would she?
What am I thinking? Beam would never, could never, do that to me, Sizzle shook her head and engaged back into Beam and Coast's conversation. Coast shifted uncomfortable while Beam locked eyes with Sizzle. "What classes are you heading to?" she asked.
"Um, I'm heading to history and Coast has library so I'm just walking her to..." Sizzle trailed off, anxiously. "I have library, too. And I think I'm also in your science class as well." Sunbeam turned to the SeaWing, who looked up at her.
"Yeah, I think I've spotted you once or twice- um, are you ready for the test? I'm kind of nervous for it," Coast tried to keep the conversation going.
Sunbeam blinked and smiled slightly. "Would you like to study with me after classes later today? I'm a little nervous for the exam, too," said Beam with a kind tone and Coast seemed to relax. "Okay!" Sizzle relaxed, too, glad Beam was playing nice.
Coast then turned to her and hugged Siz with her wings. "Thank you for walking with me! I'll meet up with you, Gentoo, and Cuddlefish after I study with Sunbeam."
Sizzle blushed and hugged her back. "Of course! I better get to history class before I'm late." She smiled at Coast and waved at Sunbeam before walking back the way she came. She had a few butterflies and she hoped that Beam wasn't still jealous.
Please let them get along.
