What we used to be.

School.

“Kaylee, meet me at my locker at recess, I have to show you something.” I say to Kaylee in a text.

“Alright. X” That was from Kaylee, ah she’s a sweet girl, she will never guess what we have in stall for her.

“Charlie, is she going to meet you there?” Matt says as he grabs me by my waist and we walk out of the class room.

“Yep, she shouldn’t be too far away now.” I reply smiling. Everyone is giving us strange looks, I guess they never thought about me having a boyfriend.

“Good.” Matt replies, looking at me and smiling.

“Charlie” he says quickly.

“Yeah?” I reply.

“Thank you for saying yes, you have no idea how much it means to me.” He said. I can’t help but smile and what he said.

“Of course I wouldn’t have said no in front of the whole class. But of course I wouldn’t have said no in the first place.” I say wrapping my arms around him, in a tight squeeze.

“Ergh, would you two stop it!!” I hear Kaylee say as she runs up to me.

“Oh, haha, sorry Kay.” I say.

“So, what did you want to show me.” She asks tilting her head to the side.

“Oh, wait, Matt has to go a get him.” I say as I watch her face light up when she heard the word ‘him’ come out of my mouth.

“HIM!” She screams.

“Uh, yeah, him. He’s Matt’s friend, Alex.”  I reply, trying to hold back my smile.

“So, you mean you are trying to set me up with another freak” She says putting her hands on her hips and swaying them to the right.

“Well, that’s not very nice, ma’am. What if that boy happened to be a very charming man?” Alex says from behind Kaylee as he smirks at her.

“Uh, I… Uh..” She says quietly but loud enough for all of us to hear. Kaylee is lost for words.

“Alex, meet Kaylee, Kaylee, meet Alex.” Matt says as he comes up behind me and puts his arm over my shoulder.

“Alex?” Kaylee says with her mouth wide open as she turns to look at me as I give her a warm smile and nod.

“Nice to meet you too, Kaylee. I guess I am just another freak.” Alex says, pulling a fake sad face on his face.

“OH MY GOD! I AM SO SORRY, IT’S JUST THAT, UM, UM.” She screams while her face just gets redder and redder.

“Hahaha, oh Kaylee, it’s alright, I am only kidding.” He says putting his hand on her shoulder.

“That wasn’t very nice.” Kaylee says glaring at him.

“Well, neither was what you said.” He adds in a sarcastic tone of voice.

“OKAY, LETS MOVE ON SHALL WE!” Kaylee says walking over to me.

We all hung out for the rest of the day, in each of the lessons, lunch and recess time.  It was the end of the day and we were walking home together.

“Hey, Kaylee can I talk to you for a minute” Alex asks her quietly while they stop walking while Matt and I keep walking until we stop so we are still able to hear what they are saying.

“What is it Alex? She asks nervously

“Kaylee, would you like to go on a date with me tonight?” He asks.  “I totally understand if you don’t want to, it’s cool.” He adds, quickly.

“Of course I will!” Kaylee says while giving Alex a warm smile.

“We can double date tonight then!!!” Matt shouts out.

“Yeah, good idea.” I say as I walk over to Kaylee.

“Matt and I are going to the movies tonight, you 2 can tag along.” I say with a big smile on my face as I look over and see Kaylee thinking all of this over.

“Sure, is that okay with you Kaylee?” Alex asks.

“Absolutely” She says.

“Cool, I’ll get my mum to drop us all off. If that’s okay with you all?” I say

“Fine with me” Alex says

“Me too,” Kaylee adds

“Okay, cool. Oh and Kaylee, you’re staying at my house tonight.” I say with a wink.

“Oooo, YAY!” She says running up to me.

“See ya boys. Pick you up at 7pm?.” I say as I walk up my drive way in front of Kaylee.

“Byeeeeee” Matt says as he waves to me.

“See ya later Kaylee, toodles, Charlie!!” He says while winking.

“WHAT AM I GOING TO WEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?” Kaylee runs into my room and falls on her back onto my bed.

“Relax petal, I’ve got it all sorted.” I say with a big grin on my face. She hates it when I call her Petal.

“HOW? PLEASE EXPLAIN!” She says jumping up from my bed and grabbing onto my arms and shaking me.

“I texted my cousin to go and get us 2 dresses at lunch. She is a fashion designer so she would have been the best person to get them, right?” I say

“Yes!! Oh my god!! Thank you!! WAIT!!!!! You knew about this date at lunch time? Before I said yes.?” She asks, freaking out.

“Why of course, I knew you would say yes, so I planned ahead. Even if the date wasn’t tonight, we could still use the dresses.” I say with a smile on my face.

I walk over to my closet and pull out a strapless turquoise dress that just passes a girls buttox. I hand this over to Kaylee, as I watch her mouth drop open.

“I CANNOT ACCEPT THIS!!” She yells as she runs into my bathroom and tries it on.

She walks out with a big smile on her face, she looks beautiful, the dress matches her hair, it brings out her eyes. She looks stunning.

“Does it look okay?” she asks, while looking down and biting her bottom lip.

“YOU LOOK AMAZING, BEAUTIFUL, GORGEOUS!! OH MY GOD, THAT IS YOUR DREAM DRESS KAYLEE!” I say running up to her and giving her a hug, then pulling back to have another look at her.

“Thank you! Go try yours on!!!” she demands.

I run over to the closet and I pull out a black dress with a white belt, it’s plane but it looks stunning. It is a short dress as well as Kaylee’s. I walk over to the bathroom and slip off my clothes. I change into the beautiful dress and take my hair tie out of my hair. I walk out back into my bedroom and look at Kaylee. She looks up at me and looks up and down my body. She seems shocked.

“Charlie, you look beautiful, you are so pretty! Oh my goodness!!!!” She says smiling at me like a chimpanzee.

“Thanks hun, you look amazing yourself. “ I say smiling back at her.

“Charlie, could you help me with something?” She asks

“Of course! What is it?” I respond

“Could you help me dye my hair?”

“WHAT!!?” I shout

“Yeah I want to dye my hair fully blonde.”

“No we are not dying you hair fully blonde! You look amazing the way you are. We shall do you hair tonight, AFTER your date. Alright?” I say

“Alright, thank you.”
