Teaching

"If you wish to fly then you need to understand the theory" Tech said at your failure to answer the questions he had set for you.

"Didn't Omega say that flying is about the feeling?" you asked, rolling your eyes.

"That may be, however, to be proficient at flying you must be able to understand the physics behind it" Tech said, picking up the data pad again. You turned to him as Techtapped his datapad. "What is the speed of light in meters per second?" Tech asked

"two hundred ninety-nine million seven hundred ninety-two thousand four hundred fifty-eight" you said.

"You are correct (y/n)" he said, going to the next question. "On average how long does it take for a computer to calculate a route in hyperspeed?"

"thirty seconds" you said.

"What creatures can travel at lightspeed?" he asked

"Why do I need to know this?" you asked, picking at your fingernails.

"If you wish to fly then you must know '' Tech said dismissively. You sighed in boredom, you knew how to fly, however, Tech was making you learn so much theory it was frying your brain. "(Y/N), darling this is important" you looked over at Tech who gave you a look which said, Please work with me.

"Fine" you said. "Purrgils travel in packs through hyperspace, there is also legends of Starweird who also can travel through hyperspace and attack ships which are travelling at lightspeed"

Tech nodded. "Now then, what is the ideal rocket equation?" You had no idea, you thought hard as Tech watched, of course he knew the answer, you loved tech, however, you sometimes hated his all knowing face. "Come now (y/n), if you answer these correct I will let you fly to the next system"

You closed your eyes and thought until it came into your mind, you grinned. "can I write it down?" you asked, Tech nodded and watched as you wrote the formula correctly.

"Now what does the delta-v mean?" Tech asked, pointing at one of the parts of the equation.

"I thought you said I could fly the ship after this" you said

"I did not specify how many questions are included in your understanding of this equation" Tech said.

You sighed, "um its the maximum change of velocity" you said, unsure of your answer.

"Correct" Tech said. "Very well done (y/n), and that one?"

"standard gravity" you said.

"Very good" Tech said, standing and placing his data pad down.

"Now can I fly?" you asked, excited.

"Under my supervision, you can, yes" Tech said. You grinned, pulling him into a hug. "Thank you Tech!" you said, grinning.

"You are welcome (y/n)" Tech said, smiling at your reaction. You let go and went to the cockpit, followed by Tech who watched as you successfully started the ship and flew to the next system, a proud look on his face.
