When we woke up in the morning we got back to walking.

"I wonder if we will ever find the author. If we are even in a story." Maya stated.

"Me too! If we are in a story, I wonder what was planned before we found out." Luna added ominously. I stayed quiet. I still don't know what to think of this situation.

Just then, a fox came running up to Luna. Luna bent over.

"Well hello little guy!" She said. The little fox rubbed up on Luna's leg. "Aww." She said. As soon as that fox did that, Luna yawned. Her knees buckled and she passed out on the ground.

"Luna!" Maya and I yelled. The fox pranced away. I swear I heard it giggle. Maya and I ran over to Luna. We crouched down next to her. Maya grabbed Luna's hand trying to wake her up, but as soon as she did, Luna started dusting away. I tried to grab at the dust, trying to bring her back.

"No!" I yelled. No no no no no! This couldn't be happening. Luna was the one thing keeping Maya and I positive and motivated. She was the part of our life that gave off enormous amounts of serotonin. And now she's gone. I could feel my eyes welling up with tears. I looked over at Maya. She had tears running down her face. I stood back up and wiped my eyes. Maya looked up at me. I reached out my hand and helped her up.

"She's really gone." Maya said. She looked like she might cry again.

"And we might be next if we're not careful and don't keep going. Let's keep walking." I said. If I was going to lose everything, I was gonna come out of it alive.
