I laid asleep in the large bed when a humming sound woke me. I opened my eyes to see a bright room, showing that I slept through the night.

It was my first night in years that I slept until morning. Heisenberg use to experiment on me while I slept so I always stayed up to push him away. Not like he listened to me anyway.

I slowly sat up from the bed and looked around to see Lady Dimitrescu sitting at the desk reading a book. She was humming a tune until she noticed I was awake.

"Good morning," she set her book down and walked over to the bed, "did you sleep well?"

"I did, thank you." I slowly moved to the side of the bed and stood up.

It still amazed me to see how tall Lady Dimitrescu was, she towered over me like I was a child.

"Mother," the blonde bug daughter walked into the room, "We're ready."

"Thank you Bela, we will be out soon." Lady Dimitrescu said to who I now know is Bela.

Bela left the room and Lady Dimitrescu turned to me, "follow me."

She walked out of the room and I followed her. My anxiety was telling me not to, telling me I should just run away but I'm sure they will catch me. I have to be smart about my escape and try to make it seamless. If I run without a plan, they will just catch me and expect me to try and escape more in the future.

I followed Lady Dimitrescu past the large staircase and through a door into the dining room. Once I walked in I was hit with a foul smell.

The three daughters sat at the large table and drank out of goblets. "Take a seat, you need breakfast to conserve your energy." Lady Dimitrescus pulled out a seat for me.

I compiled and sat in the seat. Cassandra sat across from me next to Bela and the sister with the red hair sat next to me. Remembering the names on the portrait I saw earlier, the girl next to me must be Daniela.

Lady Dimitrescu sat at the end of the table and maids filled her goblet from a wine bottle. There were four maids around us, they set many things on the table in front of us covered to remain hot.

As they revealed the food I could smell the freshly cooked buffet. My stomach felt completely empty after however long of being malnourished.

"Please, help yourself." Lady Dimitrescu watched me as I took a slice of fresh bread.

The soft bread with a hard crust filled my mouth as I went for more food. I took a second to look around and noticed the daughters eating something different. They had their own plates of what looked like flesh. It was drenched in blood and as they ate it leaked all down their chins.

"We have no need for human food," lady Dimitrescu noticed me watching, "we must have blood to survive."

As much as I lost my appetite I had to eat more of the normal food. I was starving afterall.

After breakfast the maids quickly went to clean the room. I've never seen maids work this hard, I can only imagine what would happen if they stopped working.

"Shall we take her to the dungeon?" I could hear a faint voice from another room. I peaked through the door to see Bela speaking to Lady Dimitrescu.

"No, she doesn't need to see the dungeon."

"But Mother how else would we experiment on her?"

"We must gain her trust first."

"Ok mother."

Gain my trust first? Are they only being so kind so they can stab me in the back? I had to find out.

Lady Dimitrescu started coming back to the dining room so I quickly moved away from the door so she didn't know I was snooping.

"Come along now, I will show you around." Lady Dimitrescu bent down through the door and lead me out side into the cold.

The daughter were long gone and I assumed they had something else to do.

The cold snow caught in my hair and melted on my skin as I walked out with Lady Dimitrescu. There was a large statue in the middle of the courtyard, around the edge were flowers but none of them were blooming in the winter.

"To the left is the library and opera hall. To the right is my chambers." She pointed around for a basic tour. "We'll go to the library today, the book you read always says what type of person you are."

I nodded and followed Lady Dimitrescu to the left and up the stairs. We walked into a large, circular library with many books around.

"Pick anything you would want to read." She said before going off to find her own book.

I searched through the shelves to find many different books. There seemed to be any book I could ever think of in this library.

I looked until I found a book that caught my eye. The cover was black with gold outlines. 'Village of Shadows'

Seemed interesting enough. I grabbed the book and sat down on a couch. I opened the first page and began to read and look at the pictures. It looked like a children's book but was so dark I wasn't sure.

"Mind if I sit with you?" I averted my eyes from the book to see Lady Dimitrescu with a book of her own.

"Of course." I moved as far to the side as I could.

She sat down beside me and opened her book. The couch seemed to small but I didnt mind sitting close to her. I know she's just trying to gain my trust so she can stab me in the back but something about having our arms slightly touching while reading made my heart skip a beat.

I tried focusing on my book but it felt like my whole world was changing while sitting next to the mistress of the castle.
