The bowl of soup and the bowl fell from Leo’s hands, and crashed to the ground. Leo began shaking.
Alan threw his soup to the ground. “What did you do?” He shouted at Michael. Then he hurried to Leo’s side.
Hannah walked up to Michael slowly. “Michael… Did you- Did you do this?”
Michael bit his lip. “I did.”
“I can’t believe you Michael.”
“No, it’s my father, I need to win, so he believes in me again, and I want you to win with me, because I care for you like a sister Hannah, I really do-“
“Don’t you even start Michael! You murdered, murdered our friend Leo, and tried to do the same to Alan! You don’t have any right to do that.” Hannah shouted in rage, then she turned around and stormed away.
“Hannah, wait, I can explain-“ Michael attempted to say.
“Don’t even start.” Hannah muttered before leaving camp.
Leo stopped twitching, and looked at the sky blankly. “Kia… I’m sorry.” A tear ran down his cheek, and Leo Calderwood breathed his last breath.
Alan got up, wiping a tear from his eye. He shook his head. “What the hell is wrong with you?”
Michael didn’t respond.
“First Anastasia, now Leo, who’s next? How many more before I go insane?” Alan laughed hollowly. “I’m already halfway there!”
Then he walked slowly away.
Michael stood in the middle of their empty camp. “What have I done?”
Hannah ran through the woods, breathing quickly and sharply. A million thoughts raced through her head. She’d never imagined that it would come down to cold murder between them. Hannah just couldn’t comprehend that Leo was now dead, and Michael was the cause.
“I- can’t- do- this- anymore!” She gasped.
Hannah collapsed to the ground, and tried to regain her breath.
I don’t know, I just don’t know. Leo’s gone, and he’s been there for me since the plane ride, I can’t trust Michael, Anastasia is dead, and Alan might as well be without her. What do I do? She thought.
Memories raced through her head. Leo drinking the poison. Her tenth birthday party, when the bullies had crashed it and thrown the cake in her face, calling her fat. Finding out about the Death Games, and falling out of her bed in shock. She could have sworn she'd broken something. Michael's odd gleeful, yet sad expression when Leo died. Alan and Anastasia at the interviews, the knight and the princess. The night her father left her mother. Elizabeth's last words, and so much more.
