Now it’s time to jump back into the arena. Leo thought. And this time, only two of us are leaving alive.
He glanced at Michael, who was seated beside him on the plane, and then at Hannah, and finally at Alan and Anastasia. He’d made friends out of this madness. More friends then he’d ever had in his life. After this, could he really go back to the life he was living before? No.
“What’s up Leo?” Michael asked.
“Oh! Nothing. Just… uh, thinking about what to do once we get out there.” Leo stammered.
“No… You’re thinking about the fact that only two of the five of us, if that, are getting out of here, right?” Michael said.
“Wow, yeah. I didn’t know you were that perceptive.”
“I’ve been thinking about it too…”
Michael and Leo looked at each other, both very aware that at the end of this, one of them was going to be dead in the best situation.
Leo slowly drifted off, the exhaustion caused by his worries being too much for him.
“Leo. Leo!” Anastasia said, shaking Leo awake a half hour later.
“We’re here. And hurry up! We’re going to be late for our grand entrance!” Anastasia rambled on, pinning a pink bow to one side of her short hair.
Leo got up, and followed her down the aisle of the now empty plane, lagging behind her a bit.
Suddenly, Elizabeth jumped out from behind an empty seat.
“Surprise!” She exclaimed.
Then she pouted. ‘Aw, come on Leo! I was trying to throw a surprise party, not trying to murder you! It’s. Against. The. Rules.”
“A… surprise party?” Leo muttered, terrified.
“Of course! I need to celebrate your upcoming murder. And boy am I looking forward to that! Anyway, ta ta Leo! My fans await.” Elizabeth declared, striding out of the plane.
Leo slowly exited, badly shaken.
Michael rushed up to him. “Where were you man? The forty-nine of us were waiting for you!”
A sea of faces glared up at him, excluding Elizabeth, who smiled and waved. Trust her to get out unobserved.
Alan, Anastasia, and Hannah moved over to Leo.
“Okay, we have five minutes to debrief.” Alan said.
Everyone nodded.
“Anastasia and I have decided that we’re going to separate from the three of you, for the time being. That way, Elizabeth has to decide on one group to go after. Thank heavens she doesn’t have any allies.” Alan went on.
