After Hannah and Alan stormed out of camp, Michael stood there, in a daze. What did I just do? I just... I just killed Leo. I just killed my friend. What the hell is wrong with me? He groaned and sat on the ground. I knew he had to go eventually but... Poison... and when there's still more than a few people left, one of them being Felicity... Felicity. An image flashed in Michael's mind. Felicity in the forest earlier, licking the knife before brutally murdering the poor kid. Then I went and prepared the poison... It's her. Felicity. She got into my head. Again.
Michael slapped himself, then to serve as a distraction, he packed up what remained of their camp. Upon leaving, he glanced back at Leo.
"Leo... I'm sorry. The truth is..." He sighed. "I would have had to do it eventually."
He spent the rest of the day wandering aimlessly through the forest, and when the sun began to set, he returned to camp, having no where else to rest.
The first thing he noticed upon entering was that Leo's body had been adjusted to where it looked more peaceful. He smiled. Thanks Hannah.
The body would be gone tomorrow. The government let the bodies rest there for a day in order for tributes to pay their respects, then they're lifted away, and presumably sent back to their families in some sad box. Michael wondered what Leo's little sister would think when her beloved brother got back dead. And he was to blame.
He violently shook his head to clear the nasty thoughts. What's done is done. Michael then sank into a troubled sleep.
The following morning, he rose, and returned to roaming the woods. But this time, he had a purpose. Find Hannah, and attempt to explain what his reasoning had been. He had to get her back on his side. She was like the little sister he had never had. His Kia.
It was about midday when he saw it. A little body, crumpled on the ground, a knife lodged in her back.
"Hannah!" He screamed, and ran up to her. Michael knelt down, and grabbed her hand. Ice cold. She was killed a while ago.
He looked up at the tree. Scrawled in blood, was Felicity's name, with a little smiley face at the end.
"Hannah, I swear, I will avenge you. Felicity already attempted to destroy my life once, and now she's gone and taken you from me. It's about time I got even."
He kissed her on the forehead, and got up determinedly. Felicity wasn't hard to find. She left a trial of bloody smiley faces and hearts on every tree she had passed.
Michael stepped into a clearing, and Felicity looked up from where she was sitting. "Michael! I'm so glad you could join me. I was just going to start lunch. Sandwich?"
"Sandwich? Are you kidding me? You killed Hannah!" Michael gasped, outraged.
"Yeah, I did." Felicity said, putting down her sandwich on a tablecloth and standing up. "What's the big deal with that?"
