Reminder!: 2:00PM - Phone Interview Radio1
Liam looked at his phone screen after hearing the sound of the notification. He let out a sigh, turning the screen off because he was well aware of all the things that were going to be done after news had broke out that he would be working with a brand new artist alongside his old partner, Louis Tomlinson.
Though the interview will be a solo one without his partner, Liam could already feel the dread about the questions that were probably going to be asked. They were going to be about Louis. He hoped that the questions would revolve more around Perrie Edwards and music. That's what he was about: his job, not his partner. He didn't want to talk about Louis to anyone for his own personal reasons.
It was true that the two worked excellent together with their first major signed artist, Zayn Malik. Writing parts of songs, along with Zayn's input, came so easily for them because it really was a group effort. For many artists, they sometimes didn't have much say towards their first albums but Liam and Louis were different. They wanted as much creativity and personality to come from the artist themselves instead of it being something generic or something that didn't sound like it reflected the artist at all.
Zayn wanted to be involved in pretty much everything. He didn't want his single "Lovesick" to be his one-hit wonder. He didn't want to only be known for that one song that people would eventually forget to listen to because the next best thing came along. He'd come into the studio with lyrics he'd written himself to share along with Louis and Liam's ideas. They'd work it out with melodies, choruses, bridges, and verses. Whatever needed to be done, Zayn was there for. He made himself a personal part in his music. Those were the type of artists Liam enjoyed being able to work with.
The parts done without Zayn were worked on by Louis and Liam when they weren't in the studio recording. They would sit together in one of their offices or outside somewhere when they just needed to get away from everything and have clear minds. Their writing team was usually calm and they could agree on things because they had similar tastes in music.
There were days in the beginning at Fireproof Records that Louis and Liam would share music that they liked with each other to get to know one another. Liam was sure things would have been far more difficult if they didn't have the same love for the same genres of music. They even shared music that neither had heard of before and they ended up enjoying it.
Liam and Louis had gotten on really well during those times but those times were now in the past. Interviewers always wanted to know if they had something together out of work; if they were friends mainly. They used to be until Liam realized that what was going on surrounding them wasn't about the music anymore. That was when he had to put an end to the speculations and turn back to the music.
They had been seen together It wasn't that they were considered celebrities or famous. Louis and Liam were just well known names in the music industry. Something about them walking around town or sitting in a restaurant together sparked interest, which involved their personal lives and not their business in music.
The clock read at 1:58PM. Liam only had two minutes to get himself together. He needed to think of the answers to questions before he was even asked them. He wanted to be prepared and not taken off guard, even if the questions weren't ones he wanted to answer.
He was waiting now, his thumb tapping against the table as he stared down at his phone until the number displayed over it at the exact time it was supposed to. Liam answered the call and then put his phone onto speaker.
"And we're here now with one half of Fireproof Records' favorite team. Liam Payne, how are you?" The radio host introduced him with a lively tone to his voice.
