He hoped that his day at work wasn't a reflection of how his morning went. In the span of two hours, Liam's day could already seemed ruined. It wasn't enough that his night of sleep wasn't a full one since he was replying to emails and being set up for more interviews since news broke out that he would be working with Louis Tomlinson again.
That was why he couldn't actually sleep when he finally got into his bed. He was up all night thinking about what was going to happen the moment they saw each other again and had to share the same space for hours and days. That was the personal pressure of having to work with Louis again. Liam knew how ridiculous Louis was before and he could only guess he's gotten worse since they've been apart.
Nobody really knew what had exactly knew what happened between them that caused them not to work together anymore. It had mainly been Liam's decision not to want to be in the musical partnership that people called 'genius'. As far as anyone had reported, it was just a mutual decision for them and they wanted to see if they could be creative without the other. None of that was true because it was Liam's decision and, as far as Liam knew, he was the only one who sometimes found it hard to work alone the first few times. He had to find his own balance within himself instead of having Louis beside him so they could figure out what was right together.
What if they couldn't be that same team anymore because of Liam's choice to break off from working with Louis? He could have ruined this for any potential new artist that worked with them. He didn't want to ruin anyone else's career just because of a personal issue with Louis.
Liam was about to find out as he walked through the main lobby of Fireproof Records, already 15 minutes late for the meeting that was set up with Perrie and her management team. He was usually very professional and able to keep tight to his schedule. After spilling coffee on one of his nicer shirts, Liam had to change. He somehow got distracted by trying to make sure that his clothes matched, also accidentally putting on a shirt that Louis once made jokes about him wearing. He wasn't going to wear it to spite Louis or to remind him about the times they used to have together. Liam was going to stick to being a professional and Louis was going to know that, as well as just have to deal with it.
As he approached the door, already being able to see through the large windows that everyone else was already there, Liam fixed his posture and entered the room. Then he stopped one more time, his hand holding onto the doorknob. As his eyes found his partner's through the glass, he froze. The wind hadn't been knocked out of his lungs or anything and that was probably because Louis hadn't looked at him yet.
Then Louis glanced up after staring down at something. Liam guessed it something that showed the time, showing how late he was. He had no choice but to go in now.
"I'm sorry I'm running late." Liam apologized as all eyes were now on him.
He tried his best not to groan at the fact that he was reserved to sit next to Louis.
"It's all right, Liam. We waited for you." Louis replied as he glanced up at Liam as he pulled out his chair and took his seat, his hands joined together and rested on the table.
Liam cleared his throat, mainly to get Louis to stop looking at him. "So, then I haven't missed anything?"
"Nope." Louis stated, purposefully pronouncing the second consonant sound in the word. "We were going to start without you if you didn't show up in the next few minutes but now we can go over the proposal of Perrie's contract and schedule studio time." Louis opened the folder that was in front of him and took out the first of a few stapled piles of paper, sliding it over to Perrie Edwards' team. "This is a copy of our basic contract for all new artists that Fireproof Records signs. Since Perrie has already agreed to become part of the Fireproof family, we thought we'd use this business environment to discuss anything about the contract."
