My day consisted of staying home from school and going through my things. My many things. My parents obviously weren't going to be staying in the same house, so I might as well get an early start on packing.
Keep, trash, trash, why did I even have this in the first place? I let out an exasperated breath at the mess in front of me. A perfect representation of how I'm feeling inside.
Something catches the my eye in the corner of the room. A box, covered by a stack of other clothes and nick-knacks, sits untouched. My body freezes, my mind running a million miles a second. Slowly, I make my way over to it.
I gingerly pick up the box, pushing aside the items that lay on top of it, and set it down on the only open space on my clustered bed.
I take a deep, strong breath, hoping it give me strength before opening the lid.
A single picture frame lay on top of clothes, notebooks, music sheets, and more. A piece of my heart breaks as I look at the happy photo. Carefully, as not to break it, I pick it up and stare at the forgotten memory. We all look so happy. But now she's-
Scooby hops up from his dog bed at the side of my room and trots through my open door of my bedroom. Quickly, I set the frame back in the box and cover half of it with a blanket. I rub my face, making sure there are no stray tears, before following Scooby. I follow him down the stairs, watching him as he turns into the kitchen out of my sight. I turn the corner and find him getting head rubs from my favorite ghost.
"Hey Scooby-dooby, aren't you the cutest little thing in the world!"
Seeing as he hasn't noticed me yet, I take time to aww in the adorable situation. Scooby, with his tail wagging, with Reggie and his handsome smile.
I wasn't able to go unnoticed too long. Reggie seemed to feel my staring, and got up from his crouched position, looking straight at me. I couldn't help but blush from getting caught.
"Hey!" Reggie said with a smile before stepping closer to me.
I gave him a grin back. "Well, I wasn't expecting a visit from you today."
With that, he lost his smile, and with his, mine.
I looked at him in concern. With hope, I reach for his hand, only for mine to go straight through. I look at it before meeting his eyes again. It hurts not being able to touch him.
"Reggie, we can talk if you want to."
He thinks for a moment before answering. "I-"
A sound I know all too well happens at my side. And there I see familiar face.
"Mags, I've-" Alex cuts himself off after noticing Reggie.
"Oh, your here too. Anyways, listen. Julie's back in the band, but we can't do this without you either. So Maggie, will you please come back?"
I gave Reggie a knowing look. I didn't know how long I'd be here to play. Things are moving so fast already.... I collapse under Alex's puppy dog eyes. You'd think I'd be used to them after having a dog attached to my hip.
"Fine, if Julie has decided to go back, I might as well."
Alex grins before replying. "Great! Be over at the studio as soon as you can."
With that, he zaps away. I look back to Reggie who is also smiling.
"Wanna walk me over?"
"Of course, milady."
