Something Unexpected

Chapter 6

When I finished my conversation with Kate I hung up and put my phone in my back pocket. It was only after I finished talking to Kate that I really took in the room.

It was beautiful. The walls were painted white and pictures were hung all around the room. A big white coffee table is in the middle of the room with a white couch in front of it. A big double bed was pushed up against the wall with soft pillows and a flower print quilt.

I went to the foot of the bed and through myself onto the bed, letting the quilt surround me. I closed my eyes and shuffled around on the bed getting ready to fall asleep when a burst of light hit my eyes. I open my eyes and look over to the right to see the curtain move. I get up and walk over and pull the curtain back exposing a glass door which leads out onto a balcony.

I pull on the door handle and step outside into the cool afternoon air. The sun light hits my face and I put my hand up to block the sun. When the sun disappeared behind a cloud I put my hand back down to my side and gazed over the vast garden. I opened the door and stepped outside putting my hands on the railing and leaning forward. I took in a deep breath, letting the sweet smells waft around my nose.

I closed my eyes and began to lean forward when a knock on the door interrupted me. I walked over to the door and pulled it open. Outside with  his brown hair all messy and his hands dug deep into his pockets, Hayes stands there a small smile on his face.

" Am I interrupting something?"
His voice deep.

" No, no come in"

I open the door wider allowing him to come in. He nods his head and walks in leaving a smell of cologne trailing behind him. I close the door and walk towards the bed, flopping down onto it.

I look around the room trying not to make eye contact with Hayes. I stand up and walk over to the balcony. I can feel Hayes's gaze on my back and I turn around to face him.

" Lose something? "

His eyes meet mine and we look at each other for what feels like years.

" No"

I nod and turn back to face the balcony.

"Sorry"

I turn around again to face him.

"What for? "

He sighs.

"For what happened at VidCon.  If it wasn't for me you wouldn't have been in hospital,".

I open my mouth to speak but he stops me.

" Wait I'm not finished yet, I feel really bad about what happened and I'm so sorry. But the part I'm really sorry about is the fact that I'm happy this happened. If you hadn't been in that accident we would have never had met and I know that sounds terrible but that's just the way I feel"

I look at him for a while as I process everything he just said.

"I know, I know I'm a jerk and you don't have to say anything but I thought since we'd be living together for a month that I should tell you"

I walk over to the couch and sit beside him, all the time thinking about everything he just said. So he's sorry I was in that accident and he's sorry that he sort of caused it but I'll think about blame later, but he's also happy that the accident happened because if it didn't happen we wouldn't be in this situation.

A million words race though my head but I can only get out one.

" Shit"

I look over to Hayes and we both smile.

" My thoughts exactly"

We laugh for a while before he stands up and begins to walk away. He stops and turns to face me

" I really am sorry Rachel. I don't expect you to forgive me"

With that he turns his back and begins to walk away.

" Hayes? "

He stops walking and turns to face me.

"Yes? "

I stand up brushing my hands against my legs.

" I forgive you"

He smiles and leans forward.

" Really? "

"Really"

He walks towards me and I'm pulled into his chest.

"Thank you"

I pull back and smile at him.

"You're welcome".

He smiles and walks away. Pulling on the door handle he stops and turns.

"Rachel?"

"Yeah?"

He scratches the back of his neck and puts a hand in his pocket.

"There's a big fair down at the beach and me, Nash and the guys are going, so I was wondering if maybe you wanted to come with us?"

Is Hayes Grier really asking ME to go to the fair with HIM?

"Yeah sure, I'd love too"

He takes his hand out of his pocket and smiles.

"Great!,we're leaving in a half an hour so make sure to be ready by then"

With that he opens the door and leaves, closing it quietly behind him.

This is fantastic! I get to go to the fair with Hayes. This is going to be the best night ever!

Shit.

One massive problem.

What the hell do I wear?!

Hey guys, sorry I took so long to update, I've just been really busy with school and a few other things so I hope this makes up for it:). Also I've decided to make a schedule. Every Sunday I WILL update. But it won't start until next Sunday so Sunday the 10th of May. Again I just wanted to say SO sorry for not updating sooner and I'll try to keep updating regularly :)
