Something Unexpected

Chapter 7

After pulling out every outfit I own and trying them on twice, I finally decided on a cute turquoise skirt and a colourful top.

After tying my hair into a bun and applying some light make-up, I stood in front of the full length mirror patting down my skirt. I walk over to the dresser and grab my bag, sling it over my shoulder. I exit the room and walk down the stairs to the living room.

When I walk in I see Nash, JC, Kian, Hayes and a girl I never seen before. Her bright blonde hair falls perfectly behind her back and her piecing blue eyes shine in the light.

Hayes walks over to the girl and places an arm around her shoulder. I get a sharp pain in my stomach seeing Hayes with an arm around another girl. I cough and look down to the floor. Hayes turns toward me, letting his arm fall to his side.

"Rachel, you look..."

Oh shit I hope I look okay.

"You look absolutely amazing".

I blush on the spot and look down to my feet.

"Thank you"

We walk towards the front door when Hayes stops.

"Oh I almost forgot," He walks over to the girl from early and puts a hand on her shoulder. "Ava, this is Rachel, Rachel this is my favourite cousin Ava"

Ava smiles and walks over to me and pulls me into a hug.

"It's so nice to meet you!"

She pulls away and looks down at my outfit, a smile spreading on her lips. "That colour looks great on you"

I look down at my skirt and smile back.

"Thanks"

Hayes walks over and points in the direction of the front door.

"Shall we go?"

One by one we all walk out the front door and head down the long driveway. As we get to the car Hayes runs ahead and opens the car door for me. I blush and get into the car. Once we're all inside and our seatbelts are on, I lean forward and put my head inbetween the two front seats.

"So Jc, how long does it take to get to the beach? "

He starts up the car and begins to drive.

"About half an hour"

I fall back into the seat and look out the window onto the bright, beautiful scenery.

We turn around a corner and the beach finally come into view. There's people everywhere. People young, old and everything inbetween.

We find a parking spot and all climb out of the car. Nash, Kian and JC walk ahead of us while Hayes, Ava and I stay at the back.

As we walk down the long promenade I look around. Small stalls are lined up on either side of the promenade and there are lights dangling from wires above are heads. As we come to the end of the stalls, the promenade expands and in a circle all types of games and rides surround a big fairest wheel.

As we walk further into the crowds we lose Nash, Kian and JC. Ava must have had noticed to because she turns around to face Hayes and I.

"Where did the guys go?"

We all start to look around when Hayes point over to right.

"Look they're going into the Haunted House"

I look over to where Hayes was pointing to see the three of them walking through the entrance.

"Come on guys"
