Andy Sullivan would like to think that she's moved on from Charlie Weasley. She has reduced thinking about him down to twice a week, and reduced crying about him to only three times a week (that one's not very flexible). She has gotten rid of everything that reminds her of him. She has since started a new self-care routine, consisting of waking up earlier, drinking three litres of water a day, and meditating, as soon as she wakes up, and before she goes to bed. She's even taken up reading ─ something Charlie always encouraged her to do. But that had nothing to do with it. Andy did that all on her own.

The point is, is that, Andy was finally getting used to not being around him. She was doing big girl things ─ Andy Sullivan was going to get over her first love, Charlie Weasley.

There was a slight problem in Andy's single-life-moving-on-be-happier-self-love-hot-girl regime (she wasn't very inventive with names) ─ Charlie hadn't told his mum they had broken up.

For anyone else, this was no problem. It was no one's business if Charlie didn't inform Molly Weasley of the events of his social and personal life, but for Andy, it was a problem. It was a big fat, regime-ruining, single-hot-girl-plan-to-a-happier-life-without-Charlie-Weasley crusher of a problem. Because Molly was Andy's best friend.

No, don't take that quite so literally. It's an emphasis for the fact that Andy was the nicest, prettiest, funniest, sweetest, all the positive "est" words girl that any of her sons had ever bought home. There are no words to describe how much Molly Weasley loved Andy Sullivan. And that's Andy's downfall.

Every summer, for at least two weeks, Molly expects Andy to be staying with the Weasley's in their lovely house in sunny Devon because Andy is a member of the family. Naturally. She had been dating Charlie for three years, that's why. And yes, that's right ─ thirteen and dating. High School sweethearts. She must have been the one, though, because Charlie brought Andy home at the young age of fourteen, after dating for one whole blissful year as teens. A curious thing, love is.

Anyway! Back to Andy's dilemma. Charlie hadn't told his mum that he and Andy had parted ways due to "a need for a break" (or whatever that was supposed to mean. Tut tut, Charlie). Mainly because he didn't want to be there when she inevitably cried. But also because he feared what his mum would do if she found out that he had broken up with such a perfect girlfriend like Andy Sullivan.

And so, here we are, July 1990: Andy preparing herself for a summer of fun, now she was newly single (and happy about it apparently?) and Charlie desperate to save his ass before his mother finds out he dumped her favourite guest.

With time running out before Molly is expecting Andy to stay over during their summer break, and Charlie sweating because he's not going to be able to deliver, the redhead prays that his ex-girlfriend can do him a favour, and pretend like the breakup that haunts her dreams never happened . . .

ah another fake dating trope

you can change the love interest if you want to! i've just labelled this one as a charlie fic because i believe he needs more love but i can defo see this as a fred or george or ginny fic!

if you want to make it a fred or george fic, i'd suggest that it could take place during the summer before the triwiz tournament, before the twins' sixth year

or for a ginny fic, the summer of ginny's sixth year going into seventh. so that would mean NO WIZARDING WAR. because we don't want that :(

for andy and charlie to be 16, this fic would start in the summer of 1990 (the summer after their sixth year, before their seventh). this is the weasley twins' second year

i imagined andy spent the entire summer at the burrow, pretending to still be dating charlie, and then when they went to school at the end of summer, for their seventh year, they made an agreement to only pretend to date, when necessary (around the twins because charlie only told bill that he and andy had broken up)

they break up because charlie thinks they need a "break"

ONE BED TROPE PLEASE

it's very awkward for the first few days staying at the burrow, because only andy, charlie and bill know they're not actually dating
