Seven Year Later

"It's been seven years since you are gone now." I said to the tombstone while standing in front of Ella's grave.
I stand there and think about the last seven years and how it was difficult sometimes to not become the jerk ella had asked me to not be.

"I have honored the promise I made to you of not becoming a jerk." I said in amusement.

"I also hope that you are happy in heaven and if dating is allowed in heaven , I hope you have found someone and if not than I will hope you will find someone soon." I said with a smile.

As I was talking to Ella, the baby in my arms cried, "ohh princess sorry, sorry, Daddy wasn't ignoring you really." I said in a baby voice while trying to soothe my daughter.

"Ella I have brought a new person to make your acquaintance today, and she is not happy that I was ignoring her. Any way meet Elodie Ella Sawyer my daughter, 8 pounds and 20 inches born seven days before." I said happily. And as I was introducing Elodie, my daughter has already calmed down. I see someone wasn't happy with daddy ignoring them. I looked down at the baby in my arms whose eyes were now open and whose eye color matched with mine. Gift. She is my gift as well as her mom. I looked up from her and searched for my wife, I looked sideways and saw her walking towards us. She reached near me, linked her hand with my elbow and turned towards the grave and said, "Hey Ella, hope you are doing fine. I am fine but tired with all the night feedings." Olivia said looking tired.

"I told you we can visit later if you are tired." I said to Olivia with seriousness. She turned to me and said," No I wanted to visit today, ok" and she turned towards grave and started talking animatedly.

God, But I am lucky that I met two incredible woman in one lifetime. Giving Elodie, Ella as a middle name was Olivia's idea. She said there's nothing wrong in giving a wonderful woman's name to there daughter. The woman which Elodie's daddy loved and respected.

Olivia accepted me as I was. I wasn't interested in dating before meeting Olivia. But even after meeting her I was hesitating to ask her out. In the end she asked me out. After agreeing to go out with her I was still hesitating because I will always love Ella and I doesn't want any jealousy if me and Olivia got in a relationship. On our first date I was upfront about it that even though I am healing I am not fully healed yet. That there are still scars on my heart. Olivia smiled at me and said that she is happy to know that she is going out with a man who had loved like that. Who can love like that. I was relieved. And that was the start of Olivia and me. And now three years later here we are with our daughter.

We sat near grave for sometime and talked about nothing and anything. After sometime we left for our home. As we reached home I saw Mr. Benson standing outside our house. I parked the car and started getting out. "Who is he?" Olivia asked. "Ella's lawyer." I replied and got out of the car, I turned towards olivia and said, "Take the baby and go in, I'll come in after seeing what's the matter."

"Mr.Benson what are you doing here?" I asked.

Mr. Benson turned towards me and said, "I have a letter for Mrs. Olivia Sawyer from Mrs. Ella Sawyer."
I stood there stunned for a minute and then remembered the P.S In my letter.

"Ella had instructed me to give this letter to your new wife after the birth of your first child" he said and gave me the envelope.

"As my duty is done I will take your leave now" he said and started leaving.

"Excuse me, what if we never have had baby?" I asked

He stopped walking and turned to me and said, "I was instructed by Ella to give this letter after three years of marriage or after you have your first child, whichever comes first." He said with a small smile.

I smiled back and said, "Thankyou."

He got in his car and left while I stood on my front porch, my daughter and wife inside our home and I looked down at the envelope in my hand with a sense of peace and calm. I turned the envelope and chuckled at the words, "To, that lucky girl."
