Listen to Terrible Things whilst reading this. Also, the Doctor is just a normal 17 year old, I just wanna see how this works.

Lyrics for terrible things at the side!

Clara attended the dance. She didn't want to, but her friend had convinced her to get out of the house and 'find love'. Clara did not want to 'find love'. She wanted to fall in love. You can't force a fall, it just happens.

There were a lot of boys, all with their hairs gelled back, or with glasses. They all were weaing suits, with white roses in the front pocket of their blazers. This was getting ridiculous, Clara thought to herself. They all seemed identical to her. She was 17, for christ's sake. At this age, boys should be a little more original and a little more outgoing. Or, with these people a lot more outgoing.

She was bored out of her mind, no one seemed to even look at her, although, no one was necessarily Clara's type either, so she figured it was best for them not to look at her. She sighed and turned towards the table to get a drink, stopping mid way as she saw the most beautiful man she had ever laid eyes on. She made her way towards him, this was it. She was going to make a move.

"Hey." She stopped in front of him as he gave her an odd look, but smiled all the same, fixing a few strands of hair out of his eyes.

"Hi." He stuck out his hand. "I'm the Doctor." He was wearing an old pair of ripped jeans and a ratty PINK FLOYD top. Now, he was Clara's type.

She stared at his hand, deciding against it and wrapped her arms around him, embracing the young, tall man into a hug. "Clara." She whispered in his ear.

That was it. Doctor was in love.

Clara had managed to get the Doctor on the dance floor, he had his arms wrapped around her as she had hers wrapped around his neck. She let out a laugh, throwing her head back as the Doctor stared at her, smiling admiringly.

They continued to dance for, what felt like, ever. There was a lot of laughing and stepping on feet, although both more on Clara's side. She smiled and shook her head. "How come I haven't seen you around school?"

"You never looked."

------

The Doctor flopped down beside Clara on the field. It had been 2 years. 2 glorious years of... well, an endless love story. This was their weekly star gaze. Where, every week, they had a few drinks and stared at the stars. It was relaxing for them both.

He turned his head to look at Clara, she did the same. Her hands resting on her stomach, she had on a pair of Doctor's pyjama bottoms, and one of his jumpers. Her hair was up in a messy bun, she didn't care. She knew the Doctor loved her, no matter what her hair was like.

They didn't say anything for a bit until Clara broke the silence. "I've never met someone like you before." They were both drunk, of course. They drank all the time together.

The Doctor raised his eyebrows and smiled. "What do you mean? Someone like me?"

She rubbed her head on the grass, looking up at the stars. "You know, someone like you... someone that... that I love..." She thought hard on the right words to say. "And they love me just as much..." She shook her head, scrunching her nose in an adorable way that the Doctor loved. "No. That doesn't make sense, does it?"

The Doctor sat up, grabbing her hand,"It makes perfect sense. I get it, Clara, I do." He reached into his bag, taking out a little box. Clara sat up, unaware of the box in her boyfriends hand. "You know, there's something I've been meaning to ask you, for a while now, actually..." She looked at the box in his hand, then back to him, smiling widely.

"I have loved you for quite a while now... since... since you hugged me, instead of shaking my hand. I never believed in true love until then... Love is a story that can't compare... you know that I love you, will you marry me?" When he looked up he was pushed back by Clara, her arms around his neck as she kissed him, tears streaming down her face.

"Yes! Yes! A million times yes!" She yelled.

"I need to tell you something." Clara blurted out as the Doctor walked in.

"I got Dan to sleep.." He smiled brightly, his smile dropping as he saw Clara sitting in front of the fire, her knees to her chest as silent tears rolled down her face, a piece of paper lying in front of her.

He instantly sat beside her, looking at her until she looked at him. But she never did. After 10 minutes of silence, he cleared his throat. "What was it you wanted to tell me?" She never broke her gaze as she pulled her head back a little.

"I went to the hospital a week ago... because of the pain in my back, remember?" She attempted a smile, not looking at him or waiting for a reply before she continued. "Well, the results came in..." tears rolled down her face quicker now as she turned to the Doctor. "I have cancer, Doctor... I only have a few weeks."

Doctor stared at her in disbelief, hoping she would smile and tell him it was all just some elaborate joke. He pictured how he would react, probably angry at first, but he would find the humour. But the joke never came, Clara noticed his silence, he was just staring mindlessly into space. She grabbed his face, rubbing his cheek with her thumb as he nuzzled his head into her hand. "You're the greatest thing that's ever happened to me." She whispered quietly.

Doctor never made a sound, a tear never left his eye, and he never moved. He just lay there, with Clara lying in his arms, they only had a few weeks. He got up careful not to wake her and went to the bathroom. He looked at himself in the mirror. Then it hit him, all at once, he fell on his knees and let out a choked sob, not wanting to wake up Daniel. Daniel would grow up without a mother, just like me. He brought his hands to his chest, trying to quiet his sobs.

"Daddy, where's mommy?" Dan asked his dad. He had eyes just like her, and he also seemed to have the cute little nose she had.

"Mommy's in heaven." Doctor said raspily, he cried just thinking about her, "Dan, can you promise me something?"

"yes, daddy." He looked at his dad with all the attention he had.

"Please, if you get the chance to fall in love, run away. Leave. Don't do it. I couldn't stand to see you go through this, you're too young to understand now, but someday you'll get it. There's so much to lose, Daniel." Doctor hadn't realized the tears streaming down his face. "Mommy loves you. I swear she does."

Dan hugged him,"I know daddy, don't cry, please. She loves you too, right? She'll come back one day." He tried to cheer up his dad, "I love you daddy, I promise not to love anyone else. I promise."

"Son, I'm only telling you this because life can do terrible things."
