But I'll Fall

"Okay I'm going to let go of you in 3 2-"

"No wait Will don't"

"Shayla how can you learn to roller skate properly if I don't let go?"

"But Will. But I'll fall." My best friend Will had a point, but at the same time I did too. Balance is not really something I have. He kept saying that I would not fall but I know myself. I will no doubt fall if he let me go and had me try to move on my own.

So we skated, me still clutching onto Wills arm for dear life. Suddenly I felt a light push and I could not feel Will anymore. He had let go.

I was still skating. Slowly, but I was still moving. "I'm doing it! I'm doing it!" I shouted gleefully back at Will. Then I felt my face connect with a wall.

Clutching my nose, Will rolled over to me and helped me up. "Look on the bright side Shayla, you technically didn't fall."

"Oh shut up Behlendorf."

"I'm just saying"

I rolled my eyes. "Ya whatever even though he was speaking the truth.

"Aw c'mom you know you love me." I froze. Did he know. I bet one of the other boys told him. Great. Wait. But it could be a joke. Or a trick. Instead of risking it I juts gave him a warm smile.

"I knew it."

Shit. "Knew what Will?" I attempted to make an innocent face, but I was not always the best actor in the world.

"Knew what? Oh do not act like you don't know. You LIKE ME." There was a few seconds of silence before he continued. "That's a good thing because I like you too Shayla. I have for a while now."

"Really?"

"Yes" he took my hands. "And will you do me the honor and go out on a proper date with me?"

I jumped into his arms and rapidly nodded.
