an old friend?

When I turned around to see the person I wish I didn't have to face again.

Rantaro Amami.

I'm glad he's alive and well but it still haunts me to think about how his death was by my hands.

"It's odd right? Seeing me again." Rantaro spoke again

"Yeah.." I muttered

"You know, you don't have to feel guilty."

"W-what?"

"It's obvious by the way you're looking at me."

"Guess I need to work on my acting then."  I said chuckling at the end of my sentence.

We sat in silence as the tv played showing almost everyone in an elevator going upwards, everyone in view seemed to be In a depressed mood.

"with how sad they are..it's like I'm really dead." I spoke, breaking the silence in the room

"Yeah, it really is." rantaro agreed

I looked over to the boy to see the sad expression on his face, 'i wonder what he thinks about all this being fake..' I thought before looking away from rantaro and looking back towards my feet.

"Have you had the chance to explore this place?" I asked trying to lighten the mood

"A bit but I've been watching the tv for most of the day." Rantaro said scratching the back of his neck in embarrassment

After that I went silent again before going over to the fruit basket and grabbing an apple before sitting down on the couch.

"So what are your thoughts on the whole..'it was all a virtual world' thing?" Rantaro suddenly spoke before joining me on the couch

I swallowed the piece of apple in my mouth before responding to him

"I'm glad it isn't real but.. I still can't believe we volunteered for this.."I said looking down at my half eaten apple.

"We probably had a good reason." He said looking at me with a smile, I just nodded before taking another bite of my apple.

Me and rantaro ended up speaking for a while before we decided to go back to our rooms

As I closed the door to my room I thought about what our life might be like in this place before everyone wakes up, instead of thinking about it too much I decide to lay down and go to sleep.

Everything was black before I opened my eyes to see shuichi...he was crying.
