Chapter 14

Hades' POV

Time Skip... A Week Until the Birth of Our Child (Hopefully)...

      My Meglet is waddling like an adorable penguin (Meg has educated me on a lot of the creatures in the mortal world) and her stomach is huge. Our baby girl is kicking nonstop in there and is eager to make an appearance. We're just as eager, if not more so for our daughter to be born. We're so ready to hold her in our arms and give her all of the love that we lacked in our lives but times ten. Meg's due date is exactly a week from today. She could give birth before or after that due date. Her doctor advised that due dates can vary a bit which makes sense. 

        This entire journey has felt so surreal, I'm about to become a father. I never imagined myself becoming a father, not even when I was with Persephone. I truly did love her but I couldn't imagine myself raising a child with her. She wasn't exactly keen on the idea of motherhood. After all, it took a lot of convincing for her to make the decision to want to be with me. It shouldn't been such a difficult decision. Anyways... enough of dwelling on the past. I'm about to become a father to Meg and I's baby girl. 

           Now I know what you're wondering... why the heck haven't I proposed marriage to Meg yet? Hades, Lord of the Underworld is not afraid of anything... well that is except proposing to the love of his life, well that and the fear of rejection from the love of his life. I will get the nerve to do it eventually, I hope. I think at this point it's better to wait until after the baby is born. Things are already chaotic enough as is, I don't want to attribute to more chaos right now. Juggling my duties times two since Meg is out of commission this far into the pregnancy has been tiring but it has to be done. I've never bowed down from a challenge, that much can be said about me. Not even my arrogant brother Zeus can argue against me on that. We may despise each other but I do a damn good job running this place. 

           I've also taught Meg a lot of what she knows but let me tell you, my chickypoo was a fast learner. She often does a better job running the Underworld than I do and I'm not afraid to confess that to her. Having a friendlier looking face than mine often soothes some of the more anxious souls that pass through here, trying to navigate their way out of literal hell. Meg is basically on bed rest with the exception of doing light tasks like going to the bathroom, non-strenuous exercising, eating, etc. I provide Meg with many reading materials and decent music to listen to. Meg truly enjoys reading and listening to music. Both activities not only distract her but relax her as well. I'm not a big reader but I do enjoy music too. 

           Meg is currently asleep and I'm relieved to see her getting some much needed rest. She occasionally clutches her stomach and I gently rub it every time she does so. I then cuddle with her gently and yawn several times, trying to fight sleep until it finally overcomes me. When it does, I'm out like a light. That goes to show just how exhausted I am...
