The walls of the apartment were unfamiliar to Victoria but they showed a loving family that she'd never been apart of until recently. The photos were more commonly found to be in black and white, but the expressions on the royals in the photos showed that they were in pure heaven surrounded by their extended family. She on the other hand had grown up in a small family, with four younger brothers to take care of and be a role model too. It had been something that Victoria had always known was her reality until it turned upside down when she turned 21 and her 'mother' Nikki handed her the envelope written in fancy handwriting with tears in her eyes. Victoria still hadn't forgotten that morning and knew that some things that had been said was not something she could take back. It left her relationship with her adoptive parents strained until very recently when Chris managed to convince her to go home for the weekend and spend time with her family again.
Her grandmother had invited her to stay in Buckingham Palace for the weekend so that they were able to put aside any potential rumors that would put her coronation at risk of occurring. The interview was being done by media later that afternoon and Victoria had been walking the castle looking at the home her mother had once been in.
Victoria was also meeting with Kate, her sister-in-law in an hour as well to pick a potential dress that would suit her and the right heels that would give her comfort and help make her look good. Kate had also offered to do her makeup as to help bond them together after not being with each other for so long. Victoria had messaged Chris early in the morning the days plans and he was proud that she was putting her birth right first in this situation and attempting to put aside rumours that she was an illegitimate Princess of Wales.
"I see you've found Diana's old rooms." A calming voice spoke as the door opened and Victoria turned to see that it was Charles, her father.
"I didn't know these were hers." Victoria said looking at the photos as she did so.
"Oh they were. She loved to photograph the boys when she was alive. There's one of you in here as well." Charles responded
"There is?" Victoria said, he pulled his jacket buttons apart and opened the pocket in the jacket, pulling out the old photograph that had been folded tightly to fit in the pocket. He gently handed out the photograph to Victoria.
She opened it in her hands and almost let loose some tears as she saw that it was a photograph of herself, a newborn only a few hours old and being held by her mother. This was taken in the hospital room she had been given birth in, before she was separated by the royal family.
"She didn't want to give you up. She wanted to be selfish and keep you, but she knew that you wouldn't have the best life with us as your parents. Our relationship was already strained as it was, giving you up was a tough decision. The boys didn't even know that she had been pregnant, they just assumed she'd been putting on weight because of the situation. She had to travel away a couple of times while pregnant with you so that she wasn't seen, it enabled her to give birth to you peacefully. Well, as peacefully as we were able to make it. The only ones that knew you even existed were your grandparents, my parents, Diana and myself. The tight knit circle enabled us to keep your existence quiet even after her death. She left you that note so that you could understand your family history a little bit better." Charles spoke. His little speech was moving to say the least to finally hear her parents perspective on her birth.
"I don't know what to say. I suppose I always figured that my adoptive family was my own because they all loved me equally. Even my younger brothers, they may not understand the situation but they will always be family. Considering they raised me, and helped me be who I am today. When I found out on my 21st birthday that I was the Princess of Wales, I had said some things to my mother that I don't think will be able to be forgiven. But she has such a kind heart that she forgave me anyway, because she knew that I was going through a hard time. I wouldn't have been able to forgive myself, even if I was going through a hard time. The Holland's will always remain my family, which is why I've decided to keep my last name despite being your daughter." Victoria spoke as she looked at Charles in front of her. He nodded in understanding that she would have done this anyway.
