You remind me of a student many years ago. Thomas Marvolo Riddle his name was. Your similar in more ways then you think. It is to be expected of course. The apple doesn't fall very far from the tree. I hope to see you soon Mr. Potter...yes come visit me at times will you? Perhaps there are things we could both learn. I'm situated in the headmasters office. Good luck." The hat said cryptically before calling out its decision.

"SLYTHERIN!"

Chapter 13

"SLYTHERIN!"

The effect was instant. All the anxious and negative emotions Harry had once felt disappeared immediately. Excitement and happiness bubbled inside of him. He could barely stop himself from smiling widely like an idiot. He jumped of the stool and shakily removed the hat from his head giving it to Professor McGonagall who had gone a pasty white colour in shock. Her mouth was hung wide open and all forms of protocol seemed to have been thrown out the window. When handed back the hat, she seemed to jolt out of her shock and changed her expression back into one of neutrality.

Harry shakily walked to the Slytherin table. He felt a relived sight escape his lips and he picked up his pace wanting to get there as fast as he could no longer wanting to be the subject of the numerous number of shocked and accusing stares many of the students, especially Gryffindor's, were giving him. He was so caught up in his thoughts he barely noticed the large and hearty cheer the Slytherins were giving him. Sitting next to Draco, he quickly found himself the subject of attention on the Slytherin table as well with many Slytherins scrambling to introduce themselves and shake his hand. It was a comical sight for some of the older students who had a  more restraint and preferred to dismiss all formalities and properly introduce themselves in the common room.

Harry for his part wasn't denying the various handshakes and desperately trying to keep up with the amount of names and introductions being thrown at him. He was just happy the hat hadn't decided to put him in Gryffindor. The thought of him in red and gold uniform surrounded by the loud and rambunctious horde of students alone sent shudders down his spine. The Slytherins quickly calmed down and focused their attention on the next sorting with Harry following.

"Weasley, Ron!"

"GRYFFINDOR!"

Harry breathed a silent sigh of relief. The Weasley boy had a way of worming his way into people's thoughts and etching himself in their memory and not in a good way. He reminded him of the bullies at foster homes who seemed to find pleasure in picking on younger children.

The sorting soon ended with Blaise Zabini who ended up in Slytherin much to Draco's delight.

Professor McGonagall finally rolled up her scroll and took the sorting hat away. As Harry looked at the golden plate in front of him it occurred to him how hungry he was. The time for a decent breakfast had flown out the window and the assortment of brightly coloured sweets wouldn't be enough to fill anyone's stomach. Dumbledore soon stood up on his feet and began with a long winded welcome speech and finished it of with three odd words that no one could decipher the meaning of. ("Nitwit! Blubber! Oddment! Tweak!") Somehow the plates instantly were filled with large amounts of food. Delicacies from around the world and other various things. He had never seen so many food items in one place. He looked around to see Slytherins helping themselves to a dish before passing it on.

Draco handed him a platter and he helped himself before following everyone else's actions and passing it to Blaise who sat next to him.

"Good. Keep passing the dishes on. Each dish will come to you. Take some and pass it on. When the dishes are no longer being passed, look around at the silverware and watch how to use it the proper way."
