You moved to National City for a brand new start in life. You were estranged from your parents after coming out to them on the night of your birthday, and you never really had friends back in your hometown. It has been years since you went back there, but it's safe to say that you finally feel happy and free.
After being hired as a reporter at CatCo, it was never a surprise that you immediately became friends with Kara Danvers, Nia Nall, and Winn Schott. Your bright, cheerful, and hardworking personality pulled them towards you thus, dubbing the four of you by your co-workers as "The Quartet."
Not long after, Kara had introduced you to Lena when she invited you to your first game night with the superfriends.
The first time you locked eyes with Lena, Kara swore that it was love at first sight. You have been rendered speechless by the young Luthor's beauty.
"Hi, I'm Lena."
Her voice made your breath hitched. You tried to tell her your name, but you ended up being a stuttering mess. You were fully aware that you might've made a fool of yourself, but Lena didn't mind. Instead, she laughed at how adorable you looked with your cheeks flushed and eyes wide.
With Lena's willingness to initiate the conversation, it was no surprise to the superfriends when you became close with each other.
The following months proved to be more enjoyable when deeper feelings emerged from both you and Lena. Brunch turned into late-night dates, and soon enough, you were kissing each other underneath the stars.
You had said, 'I love you first, and you swore you've never seen Lena so happy after you've said those three words. The young Luthor was never used to receiving love, so she felt scared when she first met you and felt the undeniable attraction towards you. Soon enough, she realized that falling for you was worth it. You made sure that Lena felt loved; you cherished every moment that you had with her, creating hundreds of happy memories with each other and with your friends.
For the first time, Lena felt happy and free. Loving you was the best decision she ever had, and she constantly shows that by never failing to make time for you, even on days where she was busy at work. You never had big fights with each other, and even though you're not fond of it, she'd spoil you with such lavish gifts that don't even make a dent in her bank account.
Your relationship with Lena Luthor was indeed perfect, and you didn't realize how everything can go tumbling down in a blink of an eye.
----------
Lena started to appear less. Her messages gradually stop, and she started canceling on dates, only getting notified by her secretary. At first, you never really thought much about it because you know how busy it can get back at L-Corp. Still, days of ignoring you turned into weeks until finally, you started thinking that there's a much deeper problem than you've anticipated.
Marching your way to L-Corp, you were stopped by Lena's secretary, Jess.
"I'm sorry, Ms. Y/n. I believe I can't let you in Ms. Luthor's office right now. She specifically told me not to let anyone in, not even you."
You were hurt by Jess' words. You didn't know if you did anything to make the young CEO ignore you.
"Oh, alright. But could you please tell her that I dropped by? I've been trying to reach her for weeks, and she won't reply to any of my calls or texts."
You defeatedly said to the young woman in front of you.
"Of course, Miss, I'll tell miss Luthor that you dropped by."
You gave Jess a polite smile before sighing to yourself and walking out of the building.
The young secretary felt sorry for you. Everyone knew about your relationship with the young Luthor. As much as it hurts her to deny you the opportunity to see Lena, she cannot lose her job.
Going home defeated, you wondered if you had done something to upset your girlfriend. After 2 years of knowing her and a year of dating, you've never known her to disappear like this on you. You know that she would never cheat on you because you trust her that much. Going to L-Corp, you were hoping to find some answers; instead, you were left with more questions than before.
----------
Later that night, a knock on the door interrupted your peaceful night of writing cover stories for your monthly issue for the CatCo magazine. Sighing to yourself, you lazily went up to open the door only to reveal your gorgeous girlfriend still in her work clothes, with no emotion visible on her face.
"Lena, I've been worried sick! Do you know how many times I've called your phone? You've been ignoring me for days, I went to your office, and Jess only told me that you didn't want to be bothered, and our friends don't even have a clue about the situation."
You were clearly upset about the fact that Lena had ignored you, this never happened before, and it scared you to think that her evil bald brother had something to do with her sudden disappearance. Still, alas, she's standing right in front of you.
"I was so worried. I get that you're busy running a huge company, but please don't ever disappear on me again. How have you been? Are you even okay?"
You rambled on, stepping closer to give Lena a kiss, only to be taken aback by her moving her head to the side, causing your lips to meet her cold rosy cheeks.
"Y/n."
You heard your girlfriend say with no emotion. She had never called you by your first name, not since when both of you started dating.
You can feel a lump forming in your throat, but you swallowed the negative feeling and encouraged her to continue speaking.
"I'm sorry..."
She paused, still with no emotion visible on her face. Lena looked at you directly in the eye before hearing the last words that you're ever going to hear from the young Luthor before leaving your apartment and your life for good.
"I don't love you anymore."

Author's Note:
well, this is a crappy start for a first chapter. I was listening to a sad song when this idea for a story popped into my head. I might only make this story short, but if I get more ideas, it could be longer... who knows.
Not proofread. Happy reading!
